Galactic Technologies Consortium
The Galactic Technologies Consortium is a conglomerate of businesses, primarily descended from a variety of Earth's old companies such as Amazon and Microsoft. In the centuries since its formation, the GTC has expanded to become the largest corporation in human space, and is effectively a political entity unto itself. While nominally specialised in computer hardware and software, the GTC has expanded into virtually every industry, and dominates many of them, leading some to call for the government of the United Leagues of Earth to utilise antitrust legislation to split the company. However, others question whether even Earth has the power to disband the GTC.
In the Outer Systems, the GTC has control of a single star system, Oromia, and formerly controlled the Pressburg system, until a workers' revolt drove the GTC out of the system and established the Union of Interstellar Communes. The GTC was also originally granted permission to take control of the Sraaks system by the Federal Republic of Zeta Tucanae, but for unknown reasons never did so.
