Dwarf/s *WIP* Ethnicity in The Mycobiota of Lilienwelt | World Anvil

Dwarf/s *WIP*

  • Humen *WIP*. Came from Outside *WIP*, the Dwarf Homeworld *WIP*.
  • 1930's aesthetic, Art Deco?
  • Everyone wears hats and clothes to keep warm in the cold and damp.
  • Knit a lot of sweaters and other things to keep warm. Cardigans, mittems, socks, and such. One of the first things a young Dwarf learns is how to not knit your beard into what you're making. All genders knit.
  • Pillaged the The Home Woods *WIP* of the Elf/ves *WIP*. Needed the special (murmuring and glowing) homewood timber *WIP* for reasons. They use it as an early warning system to shore up the tunnels.
  • Live mostly underground in the Dwarf Mines *WIP*. Some have agoraphobia and get very uncomfortable when they don't have the solid mountain walls around them (like a womb of stone).
  • Actually make quite a lot of things, lots of industry underground; cheese, olive oil, other stuff I can't remember offhand. Have lots of machinery and factories and workshops in the mined out vault-like rooms.
  • Pescatarians as the the Midnight Waters *WIP* have plenty of fish in it. The Dwarfs do not eat the Dragons *WIP*, they are too cute (though creepy enough to not keep as pets).
  • Always trying to balance their greed with prudence. Don't want to delve too deep. Everyone remembers in Legends of Lilienwelt: Dwarf Kingdom *WIP* the fable of the Dwarf That Dug Too Deep. Either they mined to bedrock and found nothing, or they found something or something found them, in the Darkness. Moral of the story: maybe they should have dug a little too the left...
  • Freckles frowned upon, they mark where the sunlight touched you. The Dwarfs call them ‘sun pox’ or simply ‘the pox’.
  • Everyone has a beard, except those that haven't entered puberty yet. The population has a very large percent of people that have or carry PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome). Mature males tend to be bald because of this. They also tend to have more braids in their breads and hair and to have longer breads in general. Females tend to have more curls and loops in their decorative/ornamental styles. Babies and children wear mock or pretend beards, modified chin straps made of fur or crocheted that are connected to their hats.
  • Gender fluid or neutral? Or maybe a beard isn't something that deffines one gender or another? Maybe gender is a more subtle or intimate thing. Most dwarfs are pan? Outsiders have a hard time with dwarven gender because of the beards and there is even a rumor that there aren't any female dwarfs and to that the Dwarfs say does it matter? My gender is my business, so you mind yours.
  • They love music and can't stand silence, because they fear what they might hear.
  • For the same reason they love to talk, or more like they are compelled to keep the silence at bay. So they talk constantly to everyone and even themselves it they are alone. They will mutter a constant commentary on what they are doing and what's going on. A great way to come up with things to say is all forms comedy. They are taught from a very young age to find the humor in all things. But never mean spirited, they laugh with not at. Many jesters have come from the Mountain, even some royal court jesters, so competition is a little fierce.
  • Use ponies (like shetland ponies) to help with mining.
  • Keep thimble bats *WIP* as pets.

  • They have two leaders:
  1. The King Under the Mountain (though, probably can't call them that, sigh) or the Mine Boss who handles all the diplomacy and all the people stuff.
  2. The King Under the Table *WIP*, who handles all the food stuff like making, buying, and planting. And the making of beers and sodas. And possibly some under the table trading.
Always have a candle going in the room they are in, even if artificial lights are on or in, mountain forbid, daylight. Will carry candle from room to room incase power goes out. Don’t want to be caught without light. Doesn’t have to be a candle, could be a lantern of so kind.
