WorldEmber 2024 Homework
"It's the most wonderful time of the year..." - Andy Williams
Week 1
Once again it is time for WorldEmber. Last year I pledged 10,000 words, and achieved the 25,000 word badge. I've been writing a lot over the course of the last year, due to my personal daily goal of 325+ words per day (unbroken streak for 14 months and counting). So I like to say that I'm living an #AlwaysWorldEmber lifestyle - I've been hitting 25k+ just about every month, and I see no reason to stop now. That being said, I'm going to stick to my 10k pledge, and see what happens - that way, if something does fall on me that breaks my streak, I'll most likely still fulfill my pledge.
Area of Focus
I have one word for you: Stubs. I have a lot of them - over two hundred articles that have less than 50 words. My plan for Worldember is to get as many of them as possible over the fifty-word mark. Each day, I'll pick one article for a proper writeup that will bring it over 325 words, and hopefully into my typical 800-1200 word range. These I plan to submit for judgement - I didn't submit any of my articles last year, so this will be an additional component for me.
Once my article of the day is done, I'll spend some time on my other stubs to bring them over fifty words. I'll jot down ideas, add connections and links to other articles, and generally get them into a better position for when they get their turn at a full writeup. I don't know that I'll get all of my stubs over the limit before New Years, but I think I can make a pretty good attempt and move a lot of them over the line.
Meta
Nope, not doing that this year. I looked it over, and what I wrote for the meta last year is still what works for me, and I don't see a reason to change it. Maybe next year.
Follow Along!
If you want to follow along on my progress, you can check out my Stub Index here; watch as the number of entries drops down towards zero!
Play Along!
If you want to get in on the fun, you can help me choose my next article by playing Article Roulette with the members of the Articles Anonymous chapter. I'll be posting lists to this article over the course of WorldEmber, and you can pick which one you want me to write. The game is open to everyone - if you would like to spin the wheel and let other people pick your next article, come and play!

Congratulations on what you have already achieved this year. And it's great how you continue to increase your word count every day and persistently build your world. I'm very confident that you will easily overcome the 10k hurdle and maybe even achieve more. In any case, I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you and I'm really looking forward to seeing which stub sparks you choose and let shine in new splendor. I wish you lots of luck, fun and a great Worldember.
Thank you! I hope you have a wonderful WorldEmber as well!
