Arriving into the Underworld

Once the players make their way through the Caverns into the Depth, they will soon stumble upon Mausolea. The city will block access to the rest of Asmodeus. In order to progress, the players must enter the city. Due to the black fog, the denizens of the city will not notice the players, instead, they will wander around mindlessly, not interacting with anyone no matter what. There will be some guards stationed around, unmoving, just as irresponsive as the rest of the population. When the players walk around for a bit, they will hear a voice. This voice belongs to Deaderah, the demoness who controls the fog. She will comment on it being rare for outsiders to wander into Mausolea and invites the players to the palace. At any point after this, players can encounter Eagor wandering the streets, triggering The Rowdy Demon event. Once the players make it to the palace, they will meet Deaderus sitting on the throne. From the throne a set of chains protrude, shackling the demoness to the throne. She will welcome the players and ask them why they have traveled to Asmodeus. She will ask the players if they have encountered the underworld knight Eikon if the players haven’t brought him up after some time. She will tell the players about the return of Arenez and how he plans on reclaiming the underworld in order to start another war with Aetheris. She will also inform the players that she choose Thyrus to be the key-bearer of Mausolea and freed him from the fog in order to reawaken Arenez’s brother Zenera, noting that he is the only one who can stop Arenez. Deaderah tells the players Zenera is imprisoned in The Ancient Tower, but does not know why. Afterward, she asks the players if they are willing to help Eikon, or, in case she finds out Eikonis already dead, ask if they would be willing to reach Zenera in his stead.
This will trigger the start of the quest Obtaining the Tower Key. Players are free to ask Deaderus more questions about the underworld, yet she knows little about its current state outside of the Mausolea region. She will also tell the players that the key is kept in The Locked Altar and that they have to travel to Eagor's Watch in order to access the Altar.
