Zenera, Exarch of the Heavens
Zenera, god of angels, exarch of the heavens. In Hipodean mythology, he was revered as one of The Warring Twins. Zenera rules over all angels, making him the general to the army of the gods. Although Zenera is referred to as the exarch of the heavens, he does not preside in Olympus with the other gods, instead making Aetheris, the land that lies between the mortal world and the realm of the gods, his home. It is front here that he defended the gods from the assaults launched by his brother Arenez.
And so, Zenera started his reign. The first thing he did was reforge Uranis' palace into a great city that he called Zenompolis. This construct quickly became the main haven for all angels, causing Zenera to be revered as a kind and just leader. The god continued his expanse, over time adding 25 additional metropolises to Aetheris.
Although Zenera's reign was peaceful for its majority, he and his angels soon found themselves partaking in an almost endless war. When Arenez first launched his revolt, Zenera remained hesitant, unwilling to fight his brother. Yet the gods were clear, the demon god had to fall and so Zenera took to the field. Each time Arenez set out with his hoards, Zenera stopped him. But this victory did not come at a cheap price, for each time they fought, the land between was scorched, extinguishing all life on its surface. 12 times they fought, and 12 times grave destruction was caused. Each revolt cost yet another pair of cities, one in Asmodeus and on in Aetheris. At the end of the 12th war, Zenera had enough. Although his brother was sealed away after each defeat, his imprisonment would only be temporary each time. So Zenera took it upon himself to order his legions to assault the underworld and stop his brother once and for all. What the exarch of the heavens did not anticipate was the fury of the other gods. They were enraged by Zenera's orders to attack the underworld, calling it a direct assault on Hades himself, and therefore on Olympus. As punishment Zenera was imprisoned in The Ancient Tower below Mausolea, where the final clash took place. He is to remain there, shackled within the great tower for all eternity.
Abilities
Zenera has a strong alignment with light, enabling him to solidify radiance and move with the speed of light, among other things. This alignment is further empowered by the blade Helios, in which Zenera sealed to the selfsame named icon of the sun. Armed with this blade, there are few that can stand against Zenera, even among the other deities. The blade also enables him to channel life energy, providing Zenera with strong healing and rejuvenation abilities.Myth
After he and his brother were rejected by the other gods of Olympus, Zenera was approached by Aphrodite. She revealed to the brothers that it was her who send the oracle who told the two about their origin. It was here where the brothers' paths split, as Arenez saw no reason to listen to Aphrodite and, still enraged, left Olympus. Zenera on the other hand decided to hear out the goddess of love. She told him that she had wished to meet the two, given she also originated from the being of Uranus. Although she had figured that the other gods would not accept the two brothers into Olympus itself, Aphrodite did not anticipate Zeus to directly denounce them. In order to make amends, Aphrodite offered to bring Zenera to the Heaven's Chappel, where Uranus resided. Intrigued by her offer, Zenera accepted. Upon meeting Uranus, Zenera pleaded with the ancient god to aid him in winning the favor of the Olympians. Much to Zenera's disappointment, however, Uranus denied his request, stating he carried no favor with the gods anymore. The sky icon did present Zenera with an alternative solution. He handed the young godling an old sword, stating that it was a powerful vessel that could be used to seal even a deity. Uranus proposed that Zenera would slay the sun god Helios, who had been on a rampage for some time. Due to Helios' status as the personification of the sun, the Olympians were unable to deal with the raging icon themselves. With Aphrodite acknowledging Uranus' tale, Zenera agreed to perform this task. So Zenera clashed with Helios, emerging victorious by sealing the god away in the weapon given to him by Uranus, which he then named after Helios. After the defeat of Helios, Zenera intended to return to Uranus, only to be informed by Aphrodite by the sky diety's true intent. She convinced Zenera that Uranus had planned to use the young god to obtain the power of Helios and a number of other icons such that he could overthrow the Olympians. Enraged by this deceit, Zenera stormed the Heaven's Chappel and slew Uranus. Once the other gods heard of Zenera's achievements, they decided to honor him with a place in Olympus. Given the vacancy left by Uranus, the gods decided to crown Zenera the god of angles and tasked him with guarding the heavens. And so, Zenera started his reign.
