The Queen of Yiris Harann Kulsavas (a.k.a. The Maskermind)
Mental characteristics
The second to last child of the Golden Dragon and Bronze Queen, Harann was a very quiet and shy child growing up. She didn't do very well with other kids and had few friends, and didn't end up being very close to her siblings, and as such had a very isolated childhood. She had difficulty in social situations, sometimes not knowing what to say or do, and would end up making social situations awkward.
This experience as she grew up changed her, and molded her. She would end up becoming bitter to those around her, even her own family, believing it was their fault for not trying harder or not truly caring for her. She finally decided that enough was enough, and that she was the one in control of her own life. If she couldn't create connection to other people by being herself, then she would just have to make herself someone else. Thus began her journey to become the infamous maskermind.
She began small, doing small favors and helping those in need, especially peasants who would be more than happy to see her. She slowly began to grow her confidence. This would not however evolve in a positive way, as her bitterness would begin twisting her to become more manipulative. Starting off with being learning to be a great liar and then manipulator, she began to hone her ability to turn people against each other. From foes, to strangers, to friends, to family, she taught herself how to control those around her.
But it was never for power until she finally grew up, and her father tasked her with managing the city of Yiris. She had finally found her calling to a higher purpose, for she was given to take care of a town that had major problems of ethnic conflict and class divides. Thus, she got to work, and turned the whole thing around for the better, helping the town to become prosperous and safer for all people. While Harann most of the time is borderline psychopathic, if there is one thing that she shows genuine compassion and caring for, its her people. She would happily turn sibling against sibling in another land, but she would sooner remedy problems in her own lands than to hurt them.
She had finally found her role, and she had little need to be manipulative, but that would soon change with her father's health changing for the worst. As she returned to the capital, so did her siblings, and she immediately understood what would happen. She understood not only that most likely, their father would not choose a successor, but she also understood that this was her prime time for her to ensure the safety but also her own future in the time to come. She immediately began playing the game of threads amongst her family, making deals and promises but also spreading rumor of each other amongst them.
As she predicted, Kaladan was unable to choose a successor, and as she rode out, she knew that war would soon begin. Thanks to the dealing she did, she was largely unaffected by the war, but did have some conflicts with her northern neighbors of Grenile and Lonyth, as she attempted to infiltrate spies into both, and with Lonyth attempting to raid her people. Otherwise, she focused on spreading her network of spies and infiltrators amongst her brothers and sisters.
While the other's licked their wounds, she would use the Silence era to focus on her spies, developing techniques and technology to would help benefit them and the state as a whole, as she would help lead them to high levels of development in the entire country.
But now change is in the air once more, the Golden Frontier had been discovered, and marks a new era for the world. Harann realized that if she wanted to lead her people to safety, but also for her to gain the power she needed to once and for all end the war that afflicted her people and everyone else, then she would need to be quick to colonize it like her brother Uadjit, so she too can reap the benefits of it. And so, the youngest two children of Kaladan face each other, with each one making moves to gain the upperhand.
Due to her not having much of a social life as she grew up, Harann instead focused her efforts on her studying, with her favorite subjects being that of history and philosophy. She would sometimes spend entire nights reading the scrolls and books from the library, such was her passion for it. Thus, in comparison to the majority of her siblings, she became highly knowledgable of the world around her, sometimes still joking that she remembers all of her lessons and everything she learnt.
On top of this, her focus helped her become a exceptional mage, and although not as good as the best of her family, she is better than most of them, and is quite able to cast a variety of spells, with her favorite being that of lightning.
Despite having been able to get better at it, Harann still feels a sense of inner pain when it comes to her family, especially when it comes to her sibliings. She believes that they chose not to care about her and that they didn't want anything to do with her, and thus never trusts them, and has difficulty believing there ever was familial love.
Personality Characteristics
Much like her siblings, Harann wants to bring back the old Imperium, but in her case, it doesn't matter who is the figurehead that is seen to be the leader, at the end of the day, she wants to be the one that is in control.
There are few things Harann loves more than to open a book, find a nice quiet place to sit down, and then simply spending her time reading. Her favorite topics are usually non-fiction, as she loves to expand her own knowledge of the world, and learning new things.
Harann, much unlike a lot of her siblings, don't enjoy physical activity such as sports or other such things. She never had the fitness of the others, or the strength or speed, so she focused her time rather on reading.
