Furel, Lord of Ethaborg, the 1st

Furel Kulsavas (a.k.a. The Golden Bard)

Mental characteristics

Personal history

The very first child of the Golden Dragon and Bronze Queen, Furel, was a very happy and social child growing up. He was happy to spend time with others, even being so naive as to walk up to complete strangers and be willing to talk to them. He quickly became loved by those in the palace, as he would always treat people well and in turn the servants would always help him whenever needed and be his genuine friends, along with the other draken he studied in school with. Many spoke that he was a delight to be around, as he had a magical way to make even the coldest person genuinely smile, and was quick to make friends with those around him even at such a young age.   While he was no slouch when it came to studying, he did not find much interest in the world of academic knowledge, but there was one thing that he truly loved. Music, from the deep drums of the north, to the gentle flutes of the east, to the strings of the savannah, he loved instruments of any kind and variety and type. He was quick to study and learn how to play many instruments, becoming endeared to his teachers and even the local cultures he visited to practice.   He would end up becoming very influential in the world of music for a large variety of different reasons. His first major decision when it came to music was when at a very young age he decided to create the "Book of Melody", which was his own compilation of all types of music and instruments throughout the empire, giving instructions on how to use them and certain songs one could perform with each. Along with this, his second big influence was his patronage of many prominent artists, spreading the unique music from the capital to the rest of the empire.   All was not music of course, as he also ended up playing a key role for Gatherlak during the time when people came in the thousands from all over the empire, and many conflicts rose from the different ethnicities and religions that suddenly came face to face with each other in the city. A lot of crime began springing up, with gangs belonging to specific ethnic groups fighting amongst each other. Much unlike what tales speak of, Furel did solve this through love and song, for he showed the true extent of his ability as a leader.   He was the one to help fund the organization that would grow into the Galm force, who would be the infamous enforcers of the law within the city, heavily trained and given a lot of authority on the individual level. Despite the protest of many people, it was a very effective solution that quickly turned it from the worst possible outcome. Few people believe it was Furel that created them, but it is nevertheless true, and he became the true controller of the city and its leader, second to his own father of course.   Furel helped Gatherlak become the brightest gem in all the continent, the golden city, the greatest city to ever exist, the place where all roads led to. He helped make it a city of diverse people and classes and races, of all types of industry, and a place of opportunity and prosperity, making attractive for immigrants from the far north to the far south. Furel was truly at the center of it all, helping it become a hub for art as well, especially that of music that was played in the streets.   His priorities quickly turned away from the city however, as his attention was pulled over to his dying father. Slowly one by one his brothers and sisters returned, each having become so different since last he saw them, and he quickly saw how his family was preparing for what was to come. Much like them, Furel knew his father too well, and that he would choose no successor. He knew that war was to come, and he needed to step up and protect his people and make the tough decisions for their future, like he did in the past.   His father died in his bed, and so the war began. Furel made the tough decision and forced out his siblings from their home, and quickly rallied his people under the idea that they were parasitic wyverns who only wanted blood. This propaganda quickly united Gatherlak, and that by itself was the greatest asset to Ethaborg. It had early success due to its quick exertion of power and influence, securing farm lands for its survival of the massive capital.   While it did secure food for its people, no one was prepared for the Silence, as the many goods, services, and resources that the states sustained itself on disappeared or very suddenly became much more expensive. A period of economic depression quickly began, taking a very long time for it to recover, and as such kept itself away from conflict while preferring to trade with its fellow states.   Now with the discovery of the Golden Frontier, all things are about to change, and with the promise of huge amounts of resources and strange new materials and animals, Furel must make more hard choices for the future of his people, and for the sake of once more creating the golden empire and reuniting the continent under one banner, and end the eera of wyverns.

Education

Furel is, in comparison to his siblings, not that knowledgable. Of course in context of the wider world he knows many things but he never intensely studied during his youth because he had no interest most of time, remembering only a few things in different subjects. This is not the case when it comes to music and music history however, as he is able to name from memory all sorts of influential artists within music and even outside of it, happily discussing different styles and genres.

Mental Trauma

While many applaud Furel for his friendliness and openness to people of all kinds, there are those that speak of his darker side, his much more brutal side that comes out when a tough choice needs to be made or when a friend or person in some way ires him. Thus, it can be quite terrifying to be his friend, because it can feel like walking on fragile glass that might break under one's weight, especially if one is in some way an enemy to him.

Personality Characteristics

Likes & Dislikes

As most would assume by default, the greatest pleasure of the Golden Bard is that of music, but few realize just how varied and diverse his taste is, as he enjoys cultural music from all corners of the continent and is always happy to discuss music in any form. Along with this, he loves to socialize in social settings such as parties, and is very known for throwing extravagant parties where he invites even the common folk, happily drinking and partying any who finds him within these events.   If there is one thing that Furel genuinely despises, it would be gambling. He has always seen it as a fault of mortals to willingly throw away their money in such a way and ruin their own lives, with him barely tolerating its existence in his kingdom. The only other thing that he specifically dislikes is that of sweet food, as he personally never finds them enjoyable to eat.
