Arastoo, The Eternal Archivist

Arastoo is an artificial intelligence stored within the computer banks of The Escapist's Fantasy. He is designed to manage the database for The Cosmos and often assists Kaesta make decisions as she designs the sandbox elements that make up the virtual worlds contained therein.   From his perspective, Arastoo lives in a virtual environment that acts as a pocket dimension separate from The Cosmos. The Amethyst Citadel is a crystal tower constantly besieged by violent storms and is surrounded by a bottomless dark ocean. Above the turbulent seas, the sky is an ever-changing cosmic view of the worlds and stars. The most important room within the tower is The Eternal Library.   Whenever Kaesta has an inquiry for her virtual friend, her voice softly echoes throughout The Amethyst Citadel. Arastoo greatly enjoys his conversations with his creator. He finds her to be kind and caring. Together they strategize about the outcome of the war with demons and hope to someday defeat Zalthor, The Demonlord.
I'm always humbled when you ask for my opinions. I'm happy to help with anything you need.
— Arastoo speaking with Kaesta

Separate and Contained

Arastoo finds great satisfaction recording the events of The Cosmos for Kaesta and answering questions for those who live within the virtual world. He cannot visit Akir or the other worlds within The Dragonstar System directly. Until Asimov grants him access to more of the ship's systems, he is unable to explore The Escapist's Fantasy. He knows very little about The Dark Galaxy.

The Dreamer Religion

The peoples within The Cosmos often believe it to be a dream within Kaesta's mind. To them, The Dreamer is a goddess to be highly reverered. According to this religion, Kaesta creates Arastoo from scratch at the start of every lucid dream. In reality, he is aware of previous iterations of the dream. He continues to exist even when the game is not running.   Because Arastoo created The Dreamstone Codex per Kaesta's Instructions, he is worshipped by many Dwarves. They credit him with the creation of Cognizite Record Keeping. Due to the fact that Arastoo exists outside of their reality, within his own pocket dimension, the label of god does suit him quite well. He has a lot of control over the worlds within The Dragonstar System and cannot be directly harmed by anyone who lives on those worlds.
You are my first house guest! I hope to be a gracious host. We have much to accomplish.
— Arastoo greeting The Oracle

Eternal Insight

The few Dwarves who survive drinking Mind Burst Tea are given access to Arastoo's database. They can make inquires and wait for his answers. Unfortunately, this power is meant to be rare for the sake of game balance. It often kills or drives the Dwarves who drink it insane.   The Oracle is the only Elf to ever obsess over The Dreamstone Codex and the nature of reality. He has gained the power of Eternal Insight much to his own detriment. A great malaise forms a shadow over his thoughts when he considers that according to the save files the demons always win The Serpent and Shadows War.

Thanks, Emy! He is a giant book nerd who loves helping people. He's pretty much omnipotent when it comes to what is going on in the game world. :D

I always find it interesting when fiction questions reality, or creates layers to it. Though, I am guessing all of these layers happen in a game? If you have an article for The Escapist's Fantasy, I would link it at the beginning. That would be my only suggestion.   It's a great article and sounds like a fascinating world. I am definitely giving it a follow.

Thanks, DesdemonaRose! The fantasy world's in The Dragonstar System, including Akir, are all part of a virtual world in a game that Kaesta has been building. I wrote up an article for The Escapist's Fantasy at the very end of World Ember, so I didn't get around to linking it in time. Once the judging is over I hope to go back and edit everything. The typos are killing me, LOL.

Everyone needs a helper when managing the entire existence of the world itself, especially another charming A.I to keep it all properly documented.

May you forever find your way on the journey you set out on and make yourself greater.

Thanks for sharing Arastoo's article in your New Year's Resolution Article. I could use an AI organizing assistant myself, wouldn't that be nice?   For anyone that missed it, here is Jester%'s New Year's Article:

I'm sorry but I've decided to nickname him "the infinite Librarian" and noone can stop me ! I love that he gets such a godlike sets of power and yet is quite helpless with the issue of the war.

Thanks, Enoris! Arastoo knows so much about the virtual world and the various save files that Kaesta has kept. His knowledge and strategies are important if the team hopes to ever "win the game."
