The Great Conflagration
An endless firestorm of smoke, ash, incendiary particulate and choking gasses, the Great Conflagration is an extraordinarily hostile environment, even for its elemental neighbours.
Geography
The Conglagration's geography is more readily available than its Aurian neighbour - in the literal sense that there are more landmasses here - but no easier to map, much to the consternation of the Cartographers' Guild. The Realm's choking atmosphere is constantly stirring due to the interaction of Ignia's furnace-like air with the cool and fresh winds of Auria. The movement causes the large particulate to coalesce into landforms of varying solidity.
Most of these crumble easily, unable to support the weight of all but very light creatures. But a few have, by chance or the aid of elemental casting, built up greater size and density, and can carry both people and structures. Even these landforms, though, are always in motion, moving on the shifting torrents of the ongoing firestorm.
Climate
The climate of the Realm of Ash is hostile. Breathing creatures require the aid of magic or mechanical apparatus within minutes, as the air is full of choking gasses and toxic particulates. The heat from Ignia also contributes to the Realm's innate environmental hazards; the Conflagration is not only a smoke cloud, but an ongoing firestorm. The heat occasionally escalates to the point of combusting the climate's readily-available fuel, a phenomenon which instantly ignites and roasts all caught within. The wreckage from these events is singed completely, crumbling to ash and charcoal, swiftly incorporated into the rest of the storm.
Fauna & Flora
The Conflagration is the native plane of Smoke and Ash Mephits, and is also home to various fire elementals, though most avoid the plane due to a lack of flight ability or to the disruption its constant winds pose to their fire powers. This population, however, still far outstrips that of air elementals, who generally find that the realm's polluted atmosphere disagrees with them on a visceral level.
The Conflagration has no native humanoid inhabitants.
Tourism
This realm is considered by almost every traveller to be an obstacle, not a destination. However, similarly to the Fountains of Creation, it is useful to outlaws and fugitives as a refuge and hiding place which is extraordinarily unlikely to invite pursuit.
