Lapismare Settlement in The Cradle of Worlds | World Anvil

Lapismare

The capitol of Isocania. Most notable for it's unusual tree homes. Giant trees that grow with internal cavities in their trunks. Said to be related to the great tree of the Omoikane, they are certainly not as large. Besides the trees, great public baths with heated water are popular among all the people.

Demographics

Most of the population is Human, with sizable amounts of other races.

Government

The council of Pritarchs is composed of the most powerful merchant families in the city. They are selected by the Guild Conclave that also meets in Lapismare. The Guild Conclave also appoints the generals for military defense, though most of the military and security strength is handled by private contracts and privateers.

Defences

A strong wall, and strong tradition of an armed populace provides most of the protection the city needs. The merchant guilds provide a strong series financial and security deterrents as well.

Industry & Trade

Isocania provides significant export of cheese, fruit, furniture, and medicine to other parts of Bellflower and much of it flows through Lapismare and Portomare. Of particular notes are the star saphires mines in the country and often transported with one of the few remaining air ships.

Infrastructure

A magical pumping system of water provides the various bath houses with water. The pipes for the water and the sewer system run underground in unconnected networks. This is good as there are several oozes that inhabit the sewer system, though they do prevent blockages.

Guilds and Factions

Houses Cotteril, Maykin, Wyman, and Dundas all compete for larger markets and profitability. They also compete in trying to show off their wealth with parties, art commissions, and discovery of artifacts.

Architecture

Besides the Giant live in tree's, most buildings focus on solid outer walls and inner courtyards. Most are made with white clay brick and a form of concrete with wooden rebar.
