The Brinebright League
Tier: II, Weak Hold
The Brinebright League began as a volunteer brigade dedicated to preventing fires and mitigating disasters in Awarth’s hazardous Holds. Their presence is most prominent in Salve and The Rustway, where industrial fires, chemical spills, and accidents are frequent. However, the League’s mission has broadened over the years into broader community protection and advocacy, particularly in neglected and impoverished districts. Their ranks include both idealists and pragmatists, but internal divisions between reformers and those seeking political clout threaten their cohesion.
Turf
The League operates primary in Salve, with a central station (HQ) near Rotling's Wharf. There are mobile brigades in The Rustway and other outposts along The Wound.
Notable Assets
- Brinewagons: Armored fire carts capable of navigating Awarth’s perilous streets.
- Volunteer Corps: A loosely organized force of community members trained in emergency response, many with connections to other factions.
- The Brinebright Bell: An ancient, soot-streaked bell salvaged from a sunken chapel, used to rally League members during emergencies. The eerie clang of the bell, heard across Salve and The Rustway, signals imminent danger.
Quirks
- The Brinebright Oath: Before every major deployment, League members recite a practical oath: “Check your gear, check your grit, check your exits.” It’s a reminder to be prepared, stay resilient, and always know the way out.
- Skin in the Game: A League tradition involves earning your first burn or scar in the line of duty. This mark, often a minor burn or cut, is referred to as having “skin in the game.” Members with visible scars are respected, while those without are seen as inexperienced.
