Rotling's Wharf
Rotling’s Wharf is a vibrant dock-side hub where Salve's residents gather to exchange goods and news. Unlike the cutthroat markets elsewhere in Awarth, the Wharf thrives on bartering and cooperation, rooted in the shared necessity of survival along The Wound. Salvaged materials, handmade tools, and innovative Gree-tech experiments are displayed alongside floating gardens and algae farms
Architecture
The Wharf sprawls across a network of interconnected floating platforms, wooden piers, and small islets built from scavenged materials. Its iconic floating gardens—rafts layered with soil and seeded with plants—dot the waters, while makeshift towers built from metal scraps support wind-powered generators and hanging gardens. Brightly colored tarps and ribbons are strung between poles, creating a festive atmosphere despite the grimy surroundings.
History
The Wharf emerged afterthe Big Boil, when resource scarcity forced locals to innovate. It began as a barter network for tools and food but evolved into a unique economic ecosystem. Its name is a nod to its founder, Rotling Cael, a visionary tinker who developed many of the Wharf’s sustainable technologies.
