The Jaguar and the Sky Princess. Tradition / Ritual in The Black Thorne Continent | World Anvil

The Jaguar and the Sky Princess.

It is a Black Air Raider dance taught to all Black Air Raiders.

The move depicts the jaguar, strong and powerful on the ground, attacked by two mountain eagles jealous of the jaguar's ability on the ground. The jaguar bow and asks for air from Modimo Hleko who comes down herself gracing the world with her power and grants the jaguar’s wish. The jaguar defeats the mountain eagles with ease, becoming the new king of the sky.

There are massive statues dedicated to the honour the new extinction of the Sky Jaguar and in its own way to honour the fall of the Sky Jaguar Tribe.

History

This is one of the first dances, and is said to define the Black Air Raider. A dance which is new, an act of mourning towards slow extinction of the Sky Jaguar Tribe.

Execution

The execution is what it is all about, the danger of the attack and then the flow of the movements. It is truly a movement of love and danger as they bond together through passion and love. But it has to be convincing.

Components and tools

The tools consist of the weapons of trade. Mostly being either spears of the Javelin. The more dangerous the move, the better, so as long as those javelins are sharp it is a great thing.

Participants

A man and woman are needed generally, though same sex pairings are accepted. Its danger, slow beauty and elegant flow combined with skill hammered into their cores makes the dance as something that can only be done by the most skilled dancers. This despite every single Black Air Raider studying and learning it.

Observance

This is a dance best seen by leadership, it's a method to show honour and acts as almost a method of prayer. There are almost no better ways to pray, not that one so spiritually enriching.
