Cerulean Army

The mighty army of the Cerulean Empire is called the Cerulean Army after the blue coats that it's soldiers wear.   The army has a long and, some would say, chequered history. It was formed shortly after the Empire itself, some time in the 52nd Century and has been involved in all major actions since that time.   The largest engagement that the army was involved in was the The Great Pelagic War, which ended in victory. Even though the Imperial historians like to make much of this great military engagement, the truth is that the Cerulean Army was basically all but defeated by the Antarian Federation, who suddenly and without explanation withdrew their forces on the eve of their victory.   Prior to that great war the army was involved in the The Teraknian Augmentation, which saw the Empire's lands grow to the largest they have ever been.   In these relatively quieter days the army has shrunk from it's once mighty force of 30,000 armed men tro less than half that size. It is now mainly concerned with maintaining security of the Imperial borders and patrolling the great roads that it was once responsible for building.   Even so, in the last 20 years the army was involved in taking back the large town of Seaton into Imperial control, though this was mainly a political absorption rather than a military one.   The Cerulean Army is organised into 3 battalions, each numbering around 5,000 fighting men. Each battalion comprises around 40 companies of between 100 to 150 men. There are also different specialised corps in each battalion.   The current leader of the Cerulean Army is Field Marshall Sir Raimond Longbrand. Even he does not hold ultimate power in military engagements however as he reports to First Sea Lord Khegdo Windprow, leader of the mighty Imperial Navy.
