Raimond Longbrand Character in The Azure Sea | World Anvil

Raimond Longbrand

Field Marshall, Sir

Field Marshall Sir Raimond Longbrand cuts a striking figure; tall and dressed in immaculate armour.   He has been the leader of the Cerulean Army for the past 12 years, and has lead them well, despite their being no major skirmishes during that time.   Raimond is said to be a by-the-book kind of fellow. Some whisper that he lacks imagination, but his strict and methodical approach has made the army into a highly efficient security force.   Despite several attempts to gain a seat on the Cerulean Senate his political ambitions remain unfulfilled, and the fact he still has to report to the First Sea Lord rankles.

Appearance and Mannerisms

Sir Raimond may be tall and broad-shouldered but the first thing most notice about him is that he is missing his left leg below the knee, and walks with the aid of a bladed steel crutch. He lost the kneed to gangrene after protecting a band of Imperial merchants travelling through the Drowned Forest many years ago, but never lets his disability slow him down.   He wears his dark hair (streaked with a few silver lines) slicked back and sports a large, carefully trimmed moustache.   The Field Marshall is always dressed immaculately, and his armour and badges of office are polished to the highest degree. He does not suffer slackness in others, either in their dress, their timekeeping or their application to the task at hand.

Notable Achievements

Sir Raimond lead the company that retook Seaton for the Empire, though it was more of a formal handing-over of the town. Still, he considers it a crowning achievement of his time in charge.   He has also made the roads in the Keymouth region of the Empire safe for travellers, though he has paid less attention to the Amber Coast region.
