Martian Defense Corps

"They're not the strongest fighting force, but they have enthusiasm and a budget."   ~Vinzin Peoler, Technocrat of Mars

The Reserves

The Martian Defense Corps (MDC) maintains a lean, adaptable force structure to compensate for its limited numbers. With approximately 1,600 personnel, members often operate independently or in pairs, covering vast territories across Mars. To augment their capabilities, each trooper has a budget for hiring freelance mercenaries (hired guns) in emergency situations. Advanced reconnaissance drones and satellite imaging support situational awareness, while real-time communication with MDC HQ and adjacent units ensures seamless coordination. Decentralized logistics and supply systems, utilizing cache-based storage and local procurement, enable swift response and flexibility.

A Greater Calling

The MDC's loyalty to the Technocrat and the Pan Solar Consortium drives their mission to safeguard Martian security and stability. As a distant second-rate power, the MDC recognizes the importance of strategic cooperation with Pan Solar Consortium assets and Martian Militia forces. Members are trained to operate within a tiered response framework, escalating from local response to team deployment and block mobilization as needed. Emphasis on individual initiative, problem-solving, and technical skills enables MDC troopers to adapt to diverse threats. Bi-annual simulations and exercises maintain readiness, while scenario-based planning prepares the MDC for high-impact events.

A Shield

Mars' defense relies on the MDC's flexible, adaptive strategies and utilization of Martian terrain for cover and concealment. Specialized units, such as the Martian Reconnaissance Unit (MRU), Martian Response Team (MRT), and Martian Engineering Corps (MEC), provide expertise in recon, rapid-response, and technical support. Regular check-ins, situational reports, and automated alert systems ensure timely communication and coordination. The MDC's organizational structure – pairs meeting every few days, teams gathering every few weeks, lines meeting monthly, blocks convening quarterly, and full Corps inspections every three years – enables efficient investigation of disappearances and swift mobilization in response to threats. This tiered structure and scalable response strategy form the backbone of PSC enforcement on Mars, ever vigilant and prepared to protect and serve the Red Planet even when it won't admit that it needs the help.
