Structure
The Rifanid commands five Fanids, each of whom commands one of the large regional bases on mars: Tharsis, Valles Marineris, Hellas Basin, Elysium, and the Southern Highlands. Each Fanid is in charge of training and operating the conscripts that cycle through. A Fanid is in charge of roughly ten million conscripts, with one million professional soldiers that are split between an officer corps and an NCO corps.
On the conscript side, they are broken into units of ten, with a dekanid in charge of each million conscripts, a kentonid in charge of a hundred thousand, myriadid in charge of ten thousand, kilid in charge of a thousand, hektonid in charge of a hundred, and dekad in charge of his nine fellows. All but the dekad are appointed by their superiors on any number of criteria, but the dekad is elected from among the assigned unit of ten.
On the professional side, the officer corps is the Pentadid who commands two hundred thousand, the Quadid who commands forty thousand, the Octid who commands eight thousand, the hexid who commands sixteen thousand, and the triadid who commands three hundred and twenty men. These officers receive a commission after graduating from the Martian Academy of Martial Arts. Noncommissioned Officers below these are the dodecid who commands sixty four soldiers, the hexad who commands twelve, and under the hexad four team leaders command squads of four.
They rely largely on Shackled AI for support roles such as medicine and logistics, and they generally refuse to use or work with Clones.
Culture
Martian Militiamen are martial, spartan, and spirited. Each unit is in constant friendly competition with other units, which can come to friendly brawls on a regular basis, almost as often as drinking contests, war games, and sports competitions. Militiamen work hard and play harder, and the universal conscription laws not only ensures workplace skills for those who cycle out, but also a firm national identity for the Martians as a whole.
Public Agenda
The Martian Militia's mission is to provide for the common defense and to indoctrinate all Martian citizens into the culture as well as train them in valuable skills.
Assets
Fifty five million troops form one of the largest standing militaries in human space.
Nearly ten percent of the Martian GDP is spent on the Martian Militia, and these troops are well equipped, well fed, and well trained.
