Hing

Hing is the capital of the Dwarven country of Norheimsk . The city is home to the government of Norheimsk , which is free to operate with a level of sovereignty granted they abide by Imperial laws, just like the other three countries. One of the most prominent sources of income for the city is by trading weapons and armor with The Crimson Empire , having carved a large tunnel through the southern mountains, acting as a trade route between Hing and the Imperial Capital. Although being a coastal city, Hing just has a small military harbor that only launches patrol boats to make sure the coastline remains safe from the horrors living in The Sea of the Dead

Demographics

Government

In contrary to the other Dwarven settlements in Norheimsk, the city of Hing is directly run by the Chieftain who has absolute control over every aspect of the city.

Defences

Being mostly underground gives Hing a major defensive advantage, having only two ways to enter the city: Through the tunnel through Cliffedges and through The Sea of the Dead, but the chances of anyone traversing this sea and living to tell the tale is close to zero. The tunnel is guarded permanently and the shore is patrolled by a few boats.

History

While the exact founding date of Hing is unknown, it was during the first era as a fortress to protect the native Dwarves from the roaming Dragons. After the Dragons went extinct and the Elves took over, the city evolved into a mining settlement and the Dwarves were exploited as labourers for their Elven overlords. After the Elves were driven away from Norheimsk, following the Human-Elf War, the city was chosen to be the capital of Norheimsk and remains so to this day.

Architecture

Dwarven architecture distinguishes itself from the other architecture by its focus on stone as the main building material instead of wood. The city of Hing boasts majestic stone buildings and large statues made out of solid ores and gemstones.

Geography

The city of Hing is a coastal city that is half-submerged underneath the surface. From the surface, only a few buildings are visible, notably the Valvium refineries and the military harbour. The rest of the city is located under the ground and borders the impressive Cliffedges on the west.
