The Citadel
The Citadel is the capital of Ethonia and also functions as the capital of the Empire. It is an ancient city founded by the ancient elves during the Elven Golden Age.
It is a round tiered city sitting on the highest hill of the Crimson Plains and is surrounded by a moat.
The city is a major trade and military hub and is considered to be the beating hard of the Imperial economy.
Demographics
The vast majority of the Citadwellers are Human;
humans make up about 94% of the population while Dwarves represent 5%. The final percent is filled by Elves.
Government
The Citadel serves as the headquarters for the Empire so their influence is omnipresent in the city. Imperial patrols take care of policing and in some rare cases, even Sentinels are seen carrying out the Imperial laws.
The city abides by both the Imperial and Ethonian laws.
Civil affairs of the Citadel are handled by a regional government consisting of a Baron and a band of Justicairs.
Defences
The first line of the Citadel's defense is the moat that surrounds the entire city. In addition to this, every tier has its own wall, allowing a buffer between potential invaders and the defenders of the Citadel at every tier. The majority of the Imperial Navy and Imperial Army are also permanently stationed at the Citadel, allowing for a near-instant response at imminent threats.
Lastly, the Imperial Sentinals also prove to be deadly warriors in combat, being notorious for neutralizing entire platoons on their own.
Industry & Trade
Bolstering the Imperial Military is the largest industry present in the city, but it gets most of its income from being a centralized trade hub with many goods going in and out. Fairly recently, the Empire commissioned the construction of a large Valvium refinery to facilitate the construction of their experimental airships.
Infrastructure
The Citadel has a well-developed infrastructure with carriages serving as public transport inside the city or to other cities. Especially the intercity carriages require a hefty fee to get on, so only the wealthy citizens use these. The entire city is also well reachable on foot.
The Citadel is also home to almost the largest harbor on the continent, second to the harbor of Slinge.
This harbor sees a constant flow of merchant galleons passing by, delivering goods and people.

Guilds and Factions
When the Citadel was first founded, it was considered to be the second capital of the Elven civilization. After rising up against their Elven oppressors, the Humans took control of the Citadel and rule it to this day. There are several prominent factions present in the Citadel at present day:

History
The Citadel was founded during the Elven Golden Age where it served as a second capital to spread the Elven influence across what now is Ethonia. During the Human uprising, the Citadel has been captured by the Human civilization and has been the sight of many major battles during Human-Elf War . One such battle, the Battle of Independence solidified Ethonia as an independent state, void from any influences from the Elves.
Years later, the Humans, Dwarves, and Ashens form an alliance to fully drive the Elves from the continent. This alliance slowly transforms into the Empire we know today, which considers the Citadel to be her capital.
Architecture
Since the Citadel was an Elven city, its architecture is highly prevalent in especially the older buildings in the city. Over the years, the Humans started expending the city, introducing a mix of their own and Elven architecture. Something not seen anywhere else on Terratos.
Geography
The Citadel is located on the Crimson Plains, where it sits on a hill surrounded by a moat. There are also two rivers intersecting at the Citadel, making it the ideal hub for trade.
Natural Resources
Due to the Crimson Plains being an arm stretch away, the city has an abundance of rubies and other minerals mined from the red soil.
