Ethonia

Ethonia is the largest and most powerful country on Terratos and is primarily inhabited by humans. Its capital, the Citadel, is home to the Emperor’s palace who holds the absolute power over Terratos. Next to these monumental cities, there are also eight smaller cities and settlements dotted across the countries territory. The terrain of Ethonia is divided into three distinct biomes: The dense Erlian Forest in the south, teeming with wildlife, the Cliffedges, a gargantuan mountain range bordered by a forest spanning from shore to shore and lastly the crimson plains, an enormous barren plain surrounding the Citadel.

Structure

Head of state

The Republic of Ethonia is a sovereign nation that is ruled by a governor who is elected every 5 years. This election will be based on delegate votes from the cities within Ethonia. Every city/settlement gets one delegate vote while the Citadel gets three. The candidate with the most votes will be elected as governor. Despite maintaining full sovereignty over his land, the governor is required to abide by the laws of the overarching Empire.

Secondary rulers

Directly below the governor are the court marshall, head of diplomacy and the head of inland affairs. The Courtmarshall has direct control of Ethonia's military and carries full responsibility for the militia's actions. The head of diplomacy handles all foreign affairs and is responsible for forming and maintaining relationships with the other nations. Lastly, the head of inland affairs handles all civil related matters and is responsible for monitoring the economy, regulating trade and commanding the national police and health care.

Supporting the secondary rulers

To help them perform their duties more efficiently, the court marshall, head of diplomacy and head of inland affairs all have 50 ministers serving below them that carry out the secondary rulers' wills directly.

Public Agenda

The people of Ethonia are very bent towards being superior and will always attempt to outperform the other countries. This attitude causes a fair amount of xenophobia that siphons its way into the government causing them to have a very self-centered regime that focuses a lot on their human civilians, while not tending too much to the rights of the other races who live in Ethonia.

Assets

Economy

Ethonia is a wealthy country that gains most of its income through trade routes. Mainly by trading weapons from the Dwarves from Norheimsk for valuables from their colonies in the Dead Frontier.

Military

Despite having pledged most of it to the Empire, Ethonia boasts a powerful military consisting of the finest knights in all of Terratos, supported by cavalry, siege weapons and an impressive naval armada. Using the technology bought from the Dwarves, the Ethonians are also experimenting with airships, but these are still a rare sight in the military and are sparely used for elite black ops.

Fortifications

The Citadel, the capital of Ethonia also doubles as an impenetrable fortress, boasting redundant walls, large towers and a moat surrounding the entire city. The fact that the Citadel is built on the largest hill of the Crimson Plains also gives it a significant defensive advantage in the event of a siege.

History

To be added

Demography and Population

The majority of Ethonia's population is Human. But there are also a few Elven and Dwarven minorities, however due to Ethonia's hostile nature against Magicka, especially the Elves are treated as outcasts and are in some cases even prosecuted. The Dwarves, on the other hand, are slightly more tolerated, but still not as respected as the native Humans.   The majority of Ethonia's population inhabits the Citadel. The other cities of Ethonia are also densely populated but aside from that, there is little life to come by, except for the few farmsteads dotted across the lands.

Military

Ethonia has a well respected military presence consisting of standard infantry, cavalry, and siege equipment. Aside from these ground forces, the Ethonian military also has an impressive naval division consisting of large warships that keep the seas safe from marauding pirates. On top of this, the Ethonian navy also has a very limited amount of experimental airships at their disposal.   The Ethonian military is lead by the Courtmarshall who has direct control over the entire military. Serving directly underneath him are five generals of which three command the ground armies while the other two are responsible for the navy. Underneath the generals are forty-five commanders that command a division of 2.000 units or twenty ships each.   These 2.000 units are divided into platoons of 200 units which are then split into squads of 10 troops. Each division is lead by a corporal while the platoons are lead by a lieutenant and the squads are lead by a sergeant. In the navy, each individual ship is helmed by a captain.   Lastly, the military has a highly secretive branch serving directly under the Empire. These units are called "Sentinels" and are the most deadly warriors Terratos have ever seen. These Sentinals are tasked with hunting down and neutralizing any and all Magicka wielders.

Technological Level

Ethonia is currently in a medieval state whilst slowly starting to experiment with technology that they acquired from their Dwarven neighbors. This has already led to several breakthroughs such as steam-powered equipment which sees a very rare use in the national military.

Foreign Relations

Ethonia has a tolerating attitude towards the other nations and directly engages in trade with every nation except for Ulf of Mythril.

Education

The Citadel used to be home to the well-respected college of Magicka and other magical aspects, but after the Great Reformation, this college has been shut down and remade into a large high-security dungeon used to harbor wielders of Magicka. At present day, the most prevalent source of education is the military academy in the Citadel but there are also several other educational services available across the country, such as the Ethonia National University of Commerce and the public school of Alchemy.   The Military Academy focusses on every and all aspect of combat, ranging from infantry combat to horseback riding, operating vehicles, and sailing. Successful students are given the opportunity to specialize in more well-respected roles such as officers, assassins or even Sentinels.   The Ethonia National University of Commerce teaches its students all there is to know about the economy of Ethonia and every aspect of trade and bartering.   Lastly, the public school of alchemy offers a curriculum that covers the art of potion brewing, how and where to find the right ingredients for the right potion and how to brew the perfect poison.

Infrastructure

The major cities of Ethonia are well connected with roads, but travel by lonesome is rather uncommon due to the dangerous nature of Ethonia's wilderness. There is a public transport system in place that transports citizens from city to city by carriage or boat, but usually, only the wealthy citizens are able to afford such ventures.
