Sheherizade's Palace

Built atop an oasis in an age of the world when people were even more sparsely populated in Taisha, Sheherizade the Temptress built a spa and resort for herself and her retinue of women. The servants, all, were men.   As the limestone to build the immaculate palace was emptied from a nearby quarry, the Temptress had it filled it with water, and made safe, and had it converted into a deep, still water swimming hole surrounded by trees and ferns, and giant jungle flowers. A perfect place for a tryst, said she at the time, and right she was. Marble from the mines at the coast was brought in at immense cost, but her wealth seemed as neverending then as it does today. Patterned floor tiles graced the Dining and Greeting Rooms, and even the hard packed dirt of the kitchens are kept swept and immaculately clean at all times.   The ground floor is a masterwork of carven limestone panels and breezy archways. Essentially two separate buildings split by a fountained lawn and pool area. The twin pools are salt water, and cool enough to have a constant swirling accompaniment of fog and steam in the hot, humid air of the oasis. The lawns are tended to by goats, which are tended to by children, who are tended to by the entire staff and family living at the compound.   Sheherizade's private quarters are below ground, where it is cool enough to live comfortably during the three months of storms and raging heat that must be borne by those living thereabouts. Taug, Tember, and Embers every year, are unlivable in the desert, without very specialized gear.   The palace has many amenities that make its guests feel welcome and included. Private gardens, and secluded terraces, abound. Ornate domes and elegant minarets are arranged in a stunning display of traditional decor fused with progressive construction techniques. The entire structure is embellished with geometric patterns and eye popping mosaics. The entire experience evokes a mystique and sense of ancient wonder that people who have visited never forget.
