Port Kalamihari

The largest port city in Taisha, this free city has no police force or guards on duty, and is completely unregulated. Not to say it is not a place of laws, for it surely is, and the legal code is strictly enforced; by the citizens. It is run by a Magistrate who is chosen by a board of elected officials who are chosen for three year terms. The Board of Trustees is surprisingly egalitarian, set up well and thoughtfully, and defended by a dedicated military.

The biggest, and busiest, port in this part of Taisha. There are, of course, others, but this is the largest; and, to anyone from Pax, it is considered tiny and primitive.

Demographics

Split right around even between Humans  and Elves. Surprisingly, there are even a few Halflings; probably due to the port being the largest available to Seraphinia.

Government

A representative democracy, wherein trustees are chosen from amidst the voting citizenry. These trustees will then vote amongst themselves for the Magistrate.

Defences

There is a well maintained curtain wall, and defensive towers built in strategic locations. There is a very dedicated military force, which is never used against the citizenry of this Free City.

Industry & Trade

This is the mercantile hub for the entirety of Taisha, so the small percentages of tax and tarriff add up quickly. Import and export has become the bread and butter of Poer Kalamihari.

Infrastructure

The roads, ocean facing bulkheads and walls are all cared for by the city, which pays for such things via taxes and tarriffs. The lighthouse, the biggest such structure on the entire continent, is also taken care of by the city.

Architecture

The buildings are built mainly of adobe mud brick, reinforced with palm frond fibers. There are lots of posts, and lintels veritably abound.

Geography

The city is built on the ocean; wet on one side and dry as a bone on the other.

Climate

Very hot and dry, except for during the very brief winter period, when it rains a few times.
