Kalamihari Board of Trustees
The city's Board of Trustees are the governing body in charge of regulating tarriffs and trade taxes, making and executing laws and ordinances, and setting social trends in equity and verisimilitude. While there is no police force in Port Kalamihari, there are citizen grooups that help each other police the city, and citizens are empowered to conduct their own investigations.
The Board is elected by the voting citizenry, which consists of land or business owning adults. In a nutshell, tax-payers.
Structure
Each of them is selected by their peers for a vote; it is illegal to put oneself forward for the position. Once the body of twelve is finally voted on and confirmed, it is a direct democracy amongst them.

They are honor bound, and take their oaths very seriously, and solemnly.

The elves, humans, and half elves are so intermingled in Kalamihari that they are considered the same population. The halflings, though rare, are a real treasure, representing the clever people of Seraphinia in trade and commerce.

It has a small group of dedicated defenders who are incredibly talented and good at their jobs. But, it's the Magistrate that keeps the free state free.
Laws
It is illegal to pitch one's tent in the raods of the territory around the city. Any business done in or around the city is taxed at 3%, flat rate. The penalties for tax evasion are steep, including expulsion from the city, and there is a desert on 3 sides and the ocean on one. Expulsion and banishment are very serious, usually deadly, punishments.
Agriculture & Industry
The import/export trades are the real bread and butter of Port Kalamihari.
Trade & Transport
There are some ships registered to the port, but for the most part it is a trade hub for Taisha.
Education
Education is not stigmatized, but it also is not required by any means.

The stories and mythology surrounding al-Adin, and his thousand and one nights of passion, are taken as truth here in the city of Kalamihari! Mostly.
