Dragon Shrines

The Dragon Shrines are spread throughout Pax, each with clues to the locations of the others etched into the stones of the dome's inner walls. They are in ruins, having been destroyed a thousand years ago by one of Jessie's ancestors, and then reclaimed by the jungle. V'peef Sujo has driven the kobold masons at his command relentlessly, and the shrines have been restored to their former glory.    Somewhat   The Kobolds have been raiding outlying villages and homesteads. V'peef is ordering these small strikes as an attempt at training these kobolds to be soldiers, rather than just a press-gang. It seems to be working.   Somewhat

Alterations

Architecture

They all are free standing domes, a feat of architectural brilliance, flanked at the four cardinal points by a plinth topped with eight foot statues of dragons sporting blood-red scales. Each dragon holds their long head aloft, snout in the air, clutching a many-faceted crystal in their mouths. The glow of the crystals, a low red aura that seeps into every thing with a sanguine filter over the eyes, make the remarkably well made dragon statues look as if they think the crystals are distasteful, as if they are stifling the urge to spit out the offending stone and drink deeply from a clean, cold running stream.
Beneath each dome, is a cross shaped building with walls made of river stone. The sides are aligned with the cardinal directions of the compass, and the windows are made of stained glass. It is the spitting image of what a shrine to Bayard would be devised as, except the details are meant to be vile, and vulgar. There are human skull lanterns, and fonts full of fountaining and uncongealing human blood. One touch of the skin will start to change a person's appearance immediately, as the cursed fluid works its mischief.

History

Shrouded in secrecy; the architecture is unique and the symbology predates modern Common.
