Von Gretton City Apartments

Persephone and Marcus Von Gretten are the epitome of Yaty's egalitarian society. The financiers have used their wits, charm, and a good bit of Kayla's luck to amass a fortune that rivals that of many Eldorian Dukes. This is reflected in the modest apartments that keep in the city proper, a few blocks off of Trader's Way and a mere stone’s throw from the forum. Surrounded by walls of alabaster and groves of fruit trees alternating with carefully manicured water gardens, the grounds have an irregular zee shape. The lot owes its shape to its origin as three distinct estates that Marcus acquired – at a discount of course – demolish and rebuilt to the pair’s unique tastes. While there are rumors that the couple are looking to round out the lot Persephone will tell you that its untrue. They are happy with their eccentric estate, especially now that speculators have purchased and triple the value of adjacent lots.

Within the groves and gardens, one finds a more traditional Yatian home – white walled with blue clay tile roofs. Standing at three stories with an open courtyard and four wings, the apartments – as Marcus calls them – are tastefully if eccentrically decorated. It is said that the Von Grettens are great patrons of the Mad Mariner and a number of her paintings and sculptures adorn the various sitting and dining rooms in which a guest might find themselves. The courtyard – complete with ferns, fig trees and a small pool – has an understated feel, much as one might find at a fine hotel on Eldorian coast.

Most guests will, of course, recognize the signature style of the Von Gretten’s at some point during their stay. Despite the best effort of the staff that they employ, there is always at least one child trailing after Persephone and with that child there is generally a small path of destruction. Whether it be toy soldiers, dolls, or the fragments of a broken vase – hopefully not one several that date back to before the first crowning – the Von Gretten’s staff can never seem to keep pace with the destruction wrought by their children. And while Marcus’s voice can occasionally be heard above the din of whatever raucous game the children are playing, his attempts at a scolding never seem to hold.
