Marie's Dresses and More
Located in the south eastern part of the city - but far enough away from both the river and bay to be considered by most the center of town - this tidy brick building is a mere twenty feet wide and deep. On the first story sites the two rooms that house the business of tailor Marie Pendrale, where everything is sewn to order. The front room of the shop contains tables covered with neatly folded bolts of cloth in a riot of colors and patterns. Boxes of buttons, ribbons, and lace sit among the botls and represent Marie's entire inventory.
The back room is her workspace, where a pair of rocking chairs, a cutting table, and a warm fireplace occupy the small space. A samovar rests by the fire and a small end table holds a simple, but fine tea service for two. Beyond that, a portrait of her mother and small shrine to Jendredi are the only personal items she allows herself in the shop. The rest of her personal belongs, a small collection of day to day items such as quilts, silver, porcelain dinner ware, and etc, remain upstairs in her tidy and snug two room apartment.
