Franco's Arms & Armor
Located in heart of Rathgar, not far from the Bugs' Jar, this two story building boasts both a fair amount of frontage along the street and depth, as t runs nearly fifty feet back from the street. Its first floor holds a showroom, only about a dozen feet deep but running the length of its frontage. Piled neatly in bins are sets of simple. yet well made halberds, pikes, and short swords, all aimed at the members of the Free Militia. Stacked on tables are chain shirts and small, round shields made for the same audience. A few tables, closest to the double doors that lead into the forge area in the back, a covered with soft, blue velvet that holds finely decorated rapiers and ornate daggers, often with gems protruding form their hilts.
The forge area behind the shop is wide and long. It has several anvils and a pair of furnaces, all worked by Franco's five apprentices, ranging in age from ten winters to their early twenties. Work in the forge begins early, shortly after sunup, and lasts until late in the afternoon until the sun has nearly kissed the waters of Rathgar Bay. Franco does allow the boys a long mid-day rest, preventing them from having to work in the heat during the hottest part of the day.
Upstairs is single apartment with a large master suite for Franco, containing rooms for resting, study, and entertaining. The apprentices have a single large bunk room equipped with a few extra chairs for whatever sort of leisure activity for which they might find time. Everyone shares a common kitchen with a large, wooden table around which they take their meals.
