Jendredi Amphitheater

With its stage set in front of a small lake, facing a small, terraced hill for audience seating, this open air theater is both home to the Rathgaran Players and, when weather allows, the City Council. Rathgarans often debate over which of the two stage events that are more entertaining. The terraces, which wrap around in a horseshoe shape so that two-thirds of the stage is surrounded, comfortably hold over 1000 viewers, though it rarely sees audiences that large. Unlike amphitheaters in the great city's of the Inner Seas, Rathgar's stage in not acoustically pure and players must project their voices loudly to be heard in the farthest seats. City Council members rarely consider this challenge at their own public debates, unless trying to use the masses to make their point.

The amphitheater also lacks the flat, open "floor" that is often found at the foot of the stage, where the cheapest tickets are often found. Theater and politic, many will say, is wasted on the poor anyway. Surrounding the theater, at the top of the terraces, is a three foot thick, nearly six foot tall row of rose bushes. These serve as a natural border for events at the theater and are stunningly beautiful when they bloom in the spring and fall.

For a small fee, one can rent the stage. In addition to performances by the the local players, traveling minstrels and story tellers occasionally perform, either to grow their reputations or, if they already have one, pass the hat and supplement their income. A few of the local oligarchy have even rented the stage for weddings.
