Rathgaran Players

Performing works both contemporary and classic, this Rathgaran troupe is fully funded by the City Council as part of its civic arts initiative. The thinking, local leaders will tell you, is that Rathgar will never been seen as a great city, a peer of Drythe or Grennig, unless it has the amenities of the older, more established cities of the Inner Seas. More cynically residents of the city scoff at the idea. Instead, they will say, the wealthy simply have too much time on their hands and want to be entertained.

Whatever the case, the men and women of the troupe put on performances evenings at the Jendredi Amphitheater, typically offering shows on Ninethday and Kingsday. Most shows run a full moon, meaning that residents have a number of opportunities to attend. Shows earlier in a run - especially premiers - tend to be more well attended and more exclusive. As runs wane, prices for performances drop and the audience shits toward the city's multitude of working poor.

Generally the players perform modern works, with folios arriving from Eldoria a season or two after their premiers in Karradone. Of course, they sprinkle classics from Reynard and others into the rotation, especially during the winter months local fishing lessons and moods dampen. Perhaps once a season one of the players will write their own plays. These have, to date, not been well received, though whether this from a lack of talent or an uneducated audience, few agree.
