Franco's best years of smithing may be behind him, though you would never know it from his huge arms, almost gorilla like on his short, rounded frame. Its the lines on his face and bald pate, as well as the ample overhang of his belly, that give away the fact that he spends his days wooing customers and instructing apprentices instead of wielding the hammer himself.
The change suits him fine. He has a quick tongue - honeyed compliments for the lords that visit Franco's Arms & Armor and scathing criticism for any imperfection in technique that he might see in his stable of young apprentices - and his back has not felt this good in years. His sharp eye ensures only the finest quality iron makes its way into his forges, helping his young staff produce fine quality works. While the bulk of these efforts focus on the swords and halberds commonly used by the Free Militia, he also works with his most senior apprentices to create artful daggers and rapiers destined for some of Rathgar's wealthiest patrons. Some of these weapons are even decorated with gold plated hilts and jewels, work the old smith still does himself.
