Marie Pendrale

Tailor and Clothier

Marie's round face always has a bright smile and her blue eyes are always alight with joy as the bumbles around the tables stacked with cloth, ribbons, and buttons in her Rathgar shop. Visitors can sense her energy as she never stands still, her hands constantly moving as she talks or pulling various objects - pins, needles, and even scissors out of her mousy brown bun of hair. And while she will joyfully sell her services to anyone, she refuses to produce what her mother would call "peasant clothing". The resulting dresses cloaks, and shirts that sows are, therefore, invariably expensive. Her regular customers swear that its worth the gold and she counts a number of City Council councilmen among her regulars.

As jovial as Marie is, she has a number of peculiarities. She cannot abide by poor posture or fidgeting and has been known to smack her own patrons with a yardstick if they refuse to sit still for a measurement or fitting. She also refuses to negotiate on either prices or delivery times. She swears that she will deliver on her promises, but her eyes go flat at any mention of expedited work. "Great crafts take great care," she will say. Similarly, the notion of discounting strikes the woman as cheating. "My prices are fair. And if you don't like them, you can take your coin elsewhere."

With a round face and a mousy brown bun on her head - complete with needles pins and scissors stashed inside - Marie putters around her shop in central Rathgar, catering to its wealthy patrons with her fine, custom made clothing. Adamantly refusing to negotiate on prices or timing, she has a stubborn streak that sometimes manifests by whacking her own patrons with a yardstick.
