Amberlane
Just below the Estates District sits Amberlane, named for the color of morning light that bathes its well-repaired white cobbled streets and red stone buildings. Of average width, the shelf boasts a main avenue narrower than most, with well made structures climbing four and, against the cliffs, even five stories tall. Small potted trees - often young almond and and cherry - rest in clay pots atop flat roofs in its residents attempt to add a bit of green to the shelf. The first floor of such buildings holds shops for the finer things in life, ranging from essentials such as candles, perfumes, and clothing. Most earn their coin selling fine but common wares, though there are those that cater to the more extensive tastes of the nobles living on the next shelf.
Home to Phelandria's class, they pay high taxes to crowd into small but well kept apartments or board in the shelf's many quiet inns. These same taxes cover the cost to keep the streets swept clean of litter and sewage as well as cover the costs for a few private security patrols staffed mostly by off duty members of the Lionguard. These touches make Amberlane a refuge for many amongst the hustle and danger of the city and its residents jealously guard their serenity, looking upon strangers with a concerned eye.
