Shattered Strap

The Showroom of the Shattered Strap
Located on a sidestreet of The Sluice, the Shattered Strap has a facade made of the same red stone from the Cliffs of Talbourne and rise behind it. With a simple wooden sign bearing a dark cuirass hanging from the second story, customers are ushered up a narrow stone stairwell immediately upon entering the building. Here they find a plain but tidy room with purses,
belts, cloaks, and leather armor neatly piled on three rows of wooden tables. A bell chimes as the door to the display room opens, typically summoning Bruklin Shatterhide or one of his trio of apprentices. The staff, always willing to help a customer, all speak knowledgably of the wares, inevitably highlighting the special weatherproofing process for which the shop is famous.

The first floor, only accessible by a back-stair from the shop or rear entrance, emits the foul, organic scent of urine and curing hides. Part of Bruklin's secret is tanning his own leather, making the nose wrinkling odors of the shop an additional cost to his goods. Fortunately for the Ork, however, the bulk of the shop's income comes from a contract with the Imperial Navy which has neither the need to visit the shop often nor a delicate stomach when it comes to unpleasant owners.

The third and fourth floors serve as living quarters for Brukalin and his apprentices. The apprentices occupy the third floor. Divided into two large rooms - one with four bunks and another a communal space with chairs, a table, and a small cooking stove. Above them Brukalin makes his home, sharing it with his aging parents. A small rooftop garden, tended by his mother, overflows with beans, tubers, garlic, and herbs, an blend of ingredients from their island home and her grandparent's homeland.
