Manicsight

Manicsight, a visual affliction that provides an alternate view of reality, is sought by some and feared by others. For most people, manicsight inducing mushrooms are a source of recreational enjoyment. For those with the ability to see magic, however, manicsight provides an overstimulation.

Public Stigma

While many tarants consume mushrooms recreationally with little to no negative effects, The Red Swarm are very particular about mushroom safety.
The Red Swarm
For those with arcanesight, this condition can be terribly destabilizing at best and deadly at worst.  When manicsight sets in, the visual cues of magic shift.  The divine magic glimmers like an enchantment, while glamour glitters like conjuration, and so on and so forth.  The shimmers of magic become a jumbled mess and can effectively blind an arcaneseer.  If this happens while hunting or gathering in the Corpse Woods, it could lead to devastating results.
The manicsight inducing mushrooms are able to mimic the appearance of Candy Cap mushrooms in raw and cooked forms. The Candy Cap is a common mushroom used in communal meals and, occasionally, on excursions in the Corpse Woods.

Fungi Coven
The consumption of mushrooms can be a fun leisurely activity for those living throughout much of the Claw Continent.  The Fungi Coven gathers a variety of mushrooms and prepares them for trade and export throughout the region.  In these cases, Manicsight is a desired effect.

Treatment

In the Red Swarm, the primary way to treat manicsight is to rest. The blinded individual is brought to their home, asked to lie down, and rest their eyes. This treatment can last anywhere from a few days to a full span.   In cases where someone is in the Corpse Woods, they typically try to find a quiet place to rest. If someone does not return home by sunset, a search party is sent out.   In one particularly extreme case, some of the stronger individuals carried someone to Malmi's Fountain.
