Major updates coming to Tarantellia in 2024!

Basi

Before the world existed, a couple of deities were rather bored. Malmi created puppets and Basi brought them to life. It was a magical time for the two of them. At least until the fighting began.

One day, things went too far. Malmi killed Basi. Sort of. It's rather difficult to properly "kill" deities, especially when the "dead" deity is a necromancer. Perhaps it's more accurate to say that she took Basi out of commission for several centuries.

In her grief for "killing" her best friend, she wrapped them in her web and placed some of their favorite puppets around the spherical coffin. In time, Tarantellia took shape.
Basi is a deity who has been trying to come back to their standard form for eons. Malmi definitely did a number on them. During their attempts at coming back, they've sent out visions to people in the world who could help.

In the meantime, Malmi has woven some sticky webs that make Basi's return difficult. While she misses her friend, she would very much prefer if Basi continued fueling her little project, at least for a little while. She's grown quite fond of it.

Basi, however, is done with waiting. They have actively recruited prophets and avatars to spread their word. It's time to rise.

Myths & Legends

Malmi and Basi's followers fight as they did. Rarely agreeing with one another, their followers can't agree on the morality of subjects surrounding life & death, regrowth & reanimation, and the meaning of the universe.

Wars have been committed due to the devisive nature of their beliefs, wiping out two species of humanoids. The war between Spiderfolk and Serpentfolk regarded the end of days and whether or not Basi's return would save the world or destroy it.

This war took place at the Webbed Temple. Today, both groups still can't agree on what happened or even why the temple exists. Basi's followers believe the tale of A Spider's Web is a lie woven to hide the truth behind the Rise of Basi.

To honor Basi, the Children of Life and Death believe their are certain meals they can prepare to appease Basi and other foods to heal their bodies.

Divine Domains

Basi blesses people who seek to heal themselves and provide healing for others. As such, the life (patience and renewal), growth (magic, self-actualization, solitude, and plants), and healing (restoration, revitalization, recouperation, and ressurection) domains are considered core domains by Basi's followers. However, the spectrum of life, growth, and healing include the counterparts death, chaos, and necromancy (undead and undeath).   As shown, domains in Tarantellia exist on a spectrum. Other domains Basi is involved with includes: Prophetic Dream & Nightmares, and Truths (and whatever madnesses they bring). In this way, sometimes Basi's call is ignored or unwanted, leading many to assuming Basi is the deity of curses rather than blessings. Basi's followers, however, view these blessings as an opportunity to rise and a call to grow.

History

There are many beliefs surrounding the truth to how Tarantellia came into being. We know Malmi wove wonderful tales and created beings. Some think that Basi's essence brought life into her webs, giving them breath. But if Basi even existed, there's no way they would be more powerful than Malmi.   If Basi had existed, what were Malmi and Basi to one another? Enemies? Friends? Lovers?   Tarantellia knows of Malmi, at least much of the world does...whether those who know care or not, it depends on their traditions and culture. Fewer know of or believe in Basi.   Did they fight? Did they create the world together? Did one of the complete the task? Did either even exist? Well, that's for you to decide for yourself.
