Chapter 19: Between a Kryptonian and a Hard Place

It's Tag Team part two! One team tags out and another tags in!
Outside the ancient Atlantean ruin in the middle of the Sahara desert, Wyldfire collects their wits, patches themselves up, and regroups from their brutal fight against the assault by the might of the Kryptonian Empire! A fight that nearly brought down Queen Mera and half of Wyldfire! Instead, with Thunderstrike keeping the infamous Ran occupied, Amethyst was able to get in close. Ripping the strange disk from Queen Mera, he then slapped it on Ran!
After which, with a curse and a scream, she vanished!
But to where?
Meanwhile, inside the ruin, another stargate opens. Out of this one, the SAFEGUARD team along with Sahara and Loki spill out, keeping a good lead ahead of the Kryptonian commandos that aren't far behind!
Still ... where is the leader of this invasion? The mastermind behind this idea to gather together the ancient alien devices for some unknown - perhaps nefarious - purpose? Is it General Zod? One of his lieutenants?
What if it isn't Zod? Could that mean the TRUE invasion is yet to begin?
Then there are the rings scattered between the two teams. Those ancient computers from beings so ancient, no one seems to have a name for them. What will our heroes do about them? They are powerful.
But, True Believers, are they too powerful for any single individual to try and wield? And if the legends are true ... the very world ... perhaps more might hang in the very balance!
