Kingdom of Arborea

History

The kingdom of Arborea is the ancestral territory of the elves, with the arrival of the Phan invaders and their flying ships, the kingdom was briefly conquered by the Phan, but in less than a hundred years the elves managed to regain their freedom. From then on the Phan domination of the world of Valenor was opposed everywhere by the Arboreans.

The war continued for centuries, between moments of peace and moments of war, until the year 1100 NE when the Phan Empire declares the Great Crusade against the Darkness; peace is signed between the Empire and the Kingdom of Arborea.

Thousands of elves also participate in the great crusade, whom the fall of the Empire for the betrayal of Emperor Jihen leaves abandoned in the territories of Darkness. Many elves manage to escape and return to Arborea, bringing with them tens of thousands of other survivors.

Description

The kingdom of Arborea is a magical and majestic place, populated mainly by elves and fairy creatures. Its geography consists of dense forests, crystal clear rivers, sparkling lakes and idyllic valleys. The capital of the kingdom is Azalea, a city built on water, with wooden houses and crystal palaces. The city is known for its beauty and fine architecture, making it a popular destination for visitors. The population of Arborea is very close to nature, and many elves and fairy creatures are dedicated to the cultivation of magical plants and the care of the forests.

The Archmagi Council, which rules the realm, is made up of the most powerful and respected wizards in Arborea. Each noble house has the right to elect a representative to the council, and these mages meet regularly to discuss matters of government. The king or queen is chosen from among the members of the council for a specified period of time, and their main role is to represent the kingdom and maintain unity between the different noble houses. The post can be held for up to 100 years, after which the baton must be passed on to another member of the Archmages' Council. The method of electing the king or queen prevents military confrontation between the houses and also prevents most attempts to seize power by force.

Magic is an integral part of life in Arborea, and many elves and fey creatures are adept at its use. Magic schools are spread throughout the kingdom and having studied in one of the most popular schools is an important calling card for a nobleman or for young people who wish to make their way into politics or the army.

The Kingdom of Arborea also has a strong military presence, with an army mostly made up of elven archers, swordsmen, and knights. Elves are skilled fighters, and their fighting technique is characterized by grace and precision. Additionally, the wizards of the realm are able to support troops with powerful spells and defend their land with powerful magical barriers.

The Cult of Danu

The Cult of Danu, the Mother of All, Spirit of the Forest is the main religion of the Kingdom of Arborea and of the elves in general. Danu is the goddess of nature and prosperity, and she is often depicted as a beautiful elf in green robes and a cloak of leaves. Elves believe that Danu created the world and that she rules over nature, and that therefore their very existence is closely connected with nature. The cult of Danu is therefore closely linked to respect for the environment and care for nature.

The cult of Danu also has a strong agricultural component, as elves often engage in agriculture and plant cultivation. Danu is seen as the protector of crops and her followers often pray for good crops and an abundance of food. Danu worship also has a strong communal component, and elves often gather in outdoor religious ceremonies of the Church of Danu, where they sing and dance to honor their goddess.

The cult of Danu has been a great inspiration to many elven artists, such as musicians, poets and painters, and has inspired much of the artwork of the kingdom of Arborea. His influence also extends to politics, as many members of the Archmages' Council are also priests of Danu.

Other peoples

The Kingdom of Arborea has always been home to diverse species and peoples, and the end of the Great Crusade was no exception. The refugees who were brought to safety in the realm of Arborea included not only elves, but also humans, Ki spirits, Garowian Leonids, Cheara felinids, and Satyraxis satyrs. While the peoples of the centaurs Ormitikòs, the orcs Ugruk, the Goblins Kerak and the reptilians Soslith have always lived more or less in peace in the realm of the elves.

Ki Spirits are a kind of magical creatures plucked from the spirit world by the Phan, known for their affinity for nature and ability to merge with it. They have become valuable allies to the elves of Arborea, as they share their passion for nature and environmental protection. The Ki are unfortunately extremely susceptible to Darkness, from which they are very quickly transformed into monstrous creatures called Oni.

The Garowian Leonid are a race of anthropomorphic lions, famed for their ferocity in battle and their loyalty. While their presence in the Kingdom of Arborea raised some initial concerns, the Leonid Garowians quickly became respected for their strength and loyalty to the kingdom. Over time they have created their own territory on the borders of the elven kingdom.

The Cheara Felines are a breed of anthropomorphic cats known for their agility and speed. They were welcomed into the Kingdom of Arborea for their prowess in battle and their ability to move nimbly through the woods. Their cheerfulness and grace in their movements make them an integral part of Arborea society.

Finally, Satiraxys Satyr are mythological faun-like creatures, known for their cheerfulness and musical talent, but also feared for their mood swings and nasty tendency to retaliate for the slightest offense (or what they deem a offense). They were welcomed to the Kingdom of Arborea for their knowledge of musical magic and dance, and are often present at the kingdom's festivals and celebrations. Their tradition of Vengeance and ritual dueling often places them on the edge of elven society, often prompting them to become criminals or flee outside the Realm.

The Ormitikós Centaur people are considered an integral part of the Kingdom of Arborea, having always lived in the region and are allies of the elves. They are known for their physical strength and their hunting prowess. Furthermore, centaurs are famous for their knowledge of natural medicine and their ability to heal wounds and diseases using herbs and plants.

The Ugruk Orcs and Kerak Goblins tribes have a more complicated history. These peoples have been enemies of the elves in the past and have caused much destruction in their lands. However, over time some of these orcs and goblins found refuge in the Kingdom of Arborea and began to work together with the elves to defend the kingdom from any external threats. This alliance has become fundamental with the wars against the Phan invaders, in which the power of the orcs and the ingenuity of the goblins have repeatedly saved the tide of battle. Not all orcs and goblins have been welcomed into the realm, but only those who have proved themselves faithful and respectful of elven laws.

Finally, the Soslith Lizardfolks are an ancient and mysterious people, known for their prowess in fire magic and their knowledge of the arcane arts. They live in small villages hidden in the swamps of the southern kingdom of Arborea and are not used to having contact with other peoples. However, when the region is threatened, the Soslith are always ready to defend the realm with their magical skills and arcane knowledge.
