Stygia

The 5th Layer of Hell

In the depths of the Nine Hells lies Stygia, the fifth layer ruled by the icy grip of Levistus. The layer is a frozen wasteland where frozen rivers and glaciers snake through the landscape, and the temperature remains below freezing even in the fiery depths of Hell. As the ruler of Stygia, Levistus was once a powerful Archdevil, but his imprisonment in a block of ice has left him unable to rule directly. In his stead, Geryon serves as the CED of STYGFRYG, an infernal ice exporting company, managing ice mining operations and ensuring the proper distribution of infernal ice across the multiverse. Yet, life in Stygia is not all cold and desolation. An amusing incident occurred when an infernal ice sculpture contest ended with the "winner" being encased in a block of ice, adding a touch of dark humor to the frigid landscape of Stygia. Despite its frozen appearance, Stygia is a vital layer of Hell, providing a critical resource for the infernal machinations that fuel the cosmos.
