Eidehn
Eidehn is a small fortified town that lies upon a hill next to the bank of the Yarrow River, upstream and south-east of the capital, Canyndor. The settlement finds it's origins during the era of absolutism when the smaller states of the Central Kingdoms began to coallesce and form more centralised and organised societies. This led to the importance of greater fortification and Eidehn lies upon a strategic hill near the banks of the Yarrow, an navigable river suitable for bringing trade to the region. On one side of the river, a steep crag allowed for a easily defendable position and so here a castle was built by Tukola 'Stonebrow' who was prince of the Eiaa people of the upper Yarrow Valley. Eidehn would flourish upon the hill on the other side of the river, becoming a trade centre for the region as well as a safe haven in time of war. Eidehn would remain prosperous and influential under a succession of provinces from the line of Tukola 'Stonebrow' well into the 54th century, fending off incursions by expanding neighbouring states. The lineage of successors to the city would be broken however by the King of the Doric people, Altti the Silver King, who invaded the land of the Eiaa people and brought them under his rule. Tukola would not being defeated through his death however but instead continued to rule the settlement as a vassal of the Silver King. The settlement would continue to be of great importance within the kingdom throughout the following era both under the kingdom of Doria as well as under the Brynish Empire, at which time much of the towns defenses where constructed. The Brynish Empire saw Eidehn as a useful administrative centre for the southern valleys of doria, they moved the governing body of the region to Eidehn as opposed to Canyndor to avoid compromise in the event of rebellion. Due to it's commanding position in the valley, Eidehn retained this honour and even served as a bastion of the Empire during the wars that led to it's dissolution, it would be during these wars that the castle of Eidehn would be destroyed for the first time. Once again as part of an independant Doric state, though now a grand duchy rathan than kingdom due to political reasons, Eidehn once again became a regional hub as Canyndor once again became capital of the new state. Turmoil during the formation of the phoenix Doric state unfortunately led to a Civil War between to houses of the royal family, the Ilkitala and Maijalan Houses, Eidehn coming into possession of the latter. The House of Ilkitala, who would eventually win the civil war, when retaking the town following a lengthy seige, would once again destroy the towns castle as well as do considerable damage to the inner buildings and wall surrounding the town itself.
