Battle on Tolta Hill

The Battle on Tolta Hill was a pitched battle fought between Doric and Aijian forces during the Doric-Aijian War. The battle would be fought on a hill just north of the town of Tolta, the Doric forces having taken an advantageous position to meet the Aijian forces heading south. The Doric forces were led by Surcount Erno of Ingus while the Aijian forces were led by King-Elect Andelwyn. The battle would move slowly as both armies positioned themselves for the following battle, the Doric forces being slightly outnumbered by the Aijians. The Aijian forces would be the first to advance, looking to overwhelm the Doric position, however, cavalry skirmished the advancing infantry and managed to halt this advance. A cavalry charge was ordered by Surcount Erno, which was largely successful in breaking the Aijian infantry now at the foot of Tolta Hill but the Surcount was too ambitious in his advance and continued up the opposite hill towards the Aijian position where his unit would be overwhelmed and Erno killed in the melee. The Doric forces retreated to Tolta proper, however, due to the withdrawal of the grand army led by the Grand Duke the smaller force from Tolta Hill would be insufficient to hold the settlement and thus surrendered to the encroaching Aijian army.
