Burning of Sjolund

The Burning of Sjolund was a wartime disaster perpetrated by Aijian forces, who destroyed large portions of Sjolund by setting fire to the city. The leader of the Aijian forces, Hedfeld Ermund of Asjaer, purposely set out to burn the city as retribution for the incidents at Vollun and Torsten despite Sjolund belonging to Hannu Laspura who had no involvement in the atrocities, killing civilians and razing the countryside. Surcount Hannu occupied the city when the Aijian forces arrived, however, due to being vastly outnumbered and the cities defences lacked the manning they required, the Aijian forces took the city by scaling the walls. Following the destruction, the city fell under the occupation of Aijian forces, Surcount Hannu being forced to flee to Ratora.
