Leccer Smithy
The Smithy has always been around in Leccer, and since it's existence it has been used to make all manner of tools and hardware for the city. Their primary source of income is horseshoes and nails, as well as other bits and bobs the daily folk need to keep their lives running.
From time to time they're asked to make swords for the army or plate mail, but these requests generally go straight to the head smith while the apprentices carry on day to day operations.
Design
The smithy is a mostly stone building with a large metallic door on the front with an anvil embossed into the door. Inside the smithy there is a single front desk where all business takes place. Behind this desk there is a full forge room completely equipped with all the necessary things to make most swords armor and other metal items. The ceilings are high and several open air areas can be found to let the heavy smoke out through shafts in the roof. A side door in the starting area can be seen that leads to the head smith's office, inside there are several chairs and a table where she meets with potential customers.
Sensory & Appearance
The air is thick with the smell of sulfur from the coal within the furnace, as well as the smell of several working oils. For those who have an affinity to smells and make a perception check (DC 15) they can find that there is a sweeter burning smell of beeswax.
Denizens
The apprentice can be seen working the front desk and many smiths can be seen going to and from the forges and anvils. Variel Zordlon can commonly be found performing specific requests that require "master" handiwork.
Contents & Furnishings
The only things within the main area are a plethora of smiths tools, weapons, armor, nails, hinges and other supplies. There is very little for a citizen to be doing in the back room. In the meeting room there are 5 chairs, a curio cabinet filled with strange metal items or talismans, and a small safe in the back of the room.
Valuables
In the forge area there are always at least: 10 longswords of regular quality, 3 chainmail vests for medium or small creatures, a brigadine, breastplate, halberd, and within a locked cabinet nearby the forge there is one crystal that can be used to make up to a +3 rune in GP value. Besides that there are 100 silvers worth of leather scrap, 1000 silvers worth of metal scrap, and 10 silvers worth of cloth scrap. Various other metal items can be found including a levered crowbar, caltrops, sterling blacksmith's tools, manacles, the housing of a lantern, and on one of the forge stations a formula book can be seen.
In the meeting area within the curio cupboard there are several mechanical contraptions; One is a clock worth 50 gold pieces, 3 metal statues worth 100 silver each, and a wolf's fang talisman. Within the safe there is 100 gold pieces and several work orders signed by nobles relating to an increase in weapons and arms to be sent to the Astran front.
Alterations
Originally this smithy did not have a forge. Neptis discovered steel via smithing advances in Galvaka making their way to Neptis around the year 750, where after reverse engineering the methods and through years of cultural exchange, a forge was added to the smithy.
Architecture
The smithy contains two primary forges, as well as several anvils and quenching stations. The smithy has a plethora of racks of weapons waiting for their orders to be claimed and does all of their work "on request only" as it is rarely sufficient to have swords and armor laying about to be sold to passerby.
History
The smithy, being one of the oldest trades within Neptis is one of the most respected. Because of this, it is a highly requested apprenticeship. This has driven the smithy to only accept apprentices that already have experience working in or around a forge.
