The Year of Betrayal
So far this world has two campaigns that can be run within it, you can read the pitch for each below:
Whispers of the Unknown: 100 CE - 200 CE
The world you find yourself in is filled with magic. All around you are entities, races,
items, and people filled with magic. A simple farming may know one or two mending spells to
fix his clockwork seed planter daily. A bank teller may use telepathy to talk privately with a
customer as to not disclose their important information. You’ll see clockwork automatons
walking beside trained trolls. This world truly has everything, but it’s not without conflict. The
Divine Coalition has had a long history of bloodshed, and while recently they transformed into
just “The Coalition” the people of the south and east have not forgotten what was done to them.
Get thrown into a world where the capital is a diverse mix of guilds, who all uphold a
meritocracy that rules over the working class and exploits the nature around it. While to the east
quasi-nordic tribes slowly combine to amass their forces against the capital for infringing upon
their land. Watch the south take the capitals expansion north as a route to start a civil war to go
back to their cultural way of divine rule before the coalition took over. Long off into the
distance a tower can be seen, and an ever-growing unknown threat approaches, greater than any
petty squabble on this land.
Wrath of the elements: 200+ CE
The world you find yourself has always been dominated by the elements. There are several nations on the continent of Divos, all of which owe their existence and way of life to the elemental gods, dragons. The world is rapidly changing, and those older than 100 would remember when each city was just a small tribal nation squandering over borders. Now, united by the city of Devos, the White King and Red Queen intend to keep the peace through the balancing of the elements. In the city of Devos, all kinds of mechanical contraptions and machines can be found; trains, airships, and even the occasional steamship should you be a sailor. Artificers and alchemists from all over the world congregate to Divos to train under the elementalists, using science to modify the magical rituals that take place. Fighters and monks alike may have travelled to this city to try and find work as a guard or to train under the martial masters in the area. Clerics, and champions congregate in this city to worship the elements. Though there is worship outside of the elements, this is generally kept in the lower quarters. In the lower quarters you’re likely to run into the stray rogue, using the bustle of the city to hide nefarious actions down under the metropolis. The only folk who hail from outside are those who find themselves inclined to nature. Such folk as the druid, barbarian, and rangers may find themselves in Divos for only a short time. Mostly to trade at the local market for supplies to bring back to their homeland. Whoever you are, you’re able to find a reason to come through Divos, whether you like it or not.
