Variel Zordlon
The head smith of Leccer, and has been the head smith for the past hundred years. Before they were a smith they were a scroll maker and bookmaker. They spent much of their time tanning leathers into writable forms and when paper was invented they switched over to pulp presses. Their brother currently runs the paper mill they set up. Having grown bored a long time ago of making paper Variel decides to try their hand at a new craft. At the age of 400 they took up blacksmithing, quickly becoming an adept and apprentice by putting in hours of work. With this new craft they left the paper industry to become a full-time blacksmith, and slowly worked their way up to becoming the master smith in Leccer.
Physical Description
General Physical Condition
Variel is a tall and well toned elf who, when in their work tunic, is shown to have well defined muscles and looks extremely bulky for their surprisingly thin appearance otherwise. Their elvish grace is not lost though, and they move with a very light step slowly dancing from the forge to the anvil continuing their work.

Personal history
The Zordlon siblings grew up as the children of relatively wealthy artisans within Leccer that worked as smiths. From a young age they were both pushed heavily to work as smiths, but each had an affinity for reading. Many days they found themselves engrossed in books while their siblings went out to gather supplies or practice their crafting skills. Variel in particular had very little interest in smithing, as they were in a rebellious streak when their parents offered the idea forward. Resenting that, Variel and Echerion grew close, and began to resent their family. With their status they were given some freedom to choose a career path, so Variel and Echerion went on to become tanners. Their parents were disappointed but supported their decision to pick up such a trade. Soon after Variel and Echerion used their newfound skills to mass produce books. They created special binding methods that decreased book times, but they still could not produce scrolls, books, and other items fast enough to make them affordable as a selling point. This is when they came across the idea of using wood, more specifically pulp from green plants. This was revolutionary and took tens of years of trial and failure, but as soon as it was completed they used their parents will money to purchase a new building to make the first ever paper mill and book making trade.
Education
Being the child of a relatively wealthy merchant family, Variel afforded the privilege of private tutors and supplies to follow their aspirations. Variel was the oldest child, and as such was expected to teach their siblings. That meant much of their young life was spent learning from a private tutor, and then relaying information to their siblings to help prepare them for being tutored themselves. Variel loved teaching their siblings and was most joyous when explaining how the little intricate details of the studies worked.
Employment
For most of their life they were a tanner, until they became a bookmaker, and even later becoming a blacksmith. The last choice to become a blacksmith soured the relationship between both Variel and their younger brother Echerion.
