Leccer Paper Manufacturer
The paper manufacturers used to be scroll-makers and bookmakers who bought leather from the tanners to craft into books, or that wrote history into stones or wood slates. Scrolls were commonly used by threading plant fibers together akin to basket weaving. In 1564 that all changed with the introduction of an invention produced by the Zordlon siblings. These two siblings were the first in Neptis to start crafting books, scrolls, and other readable items using plant pulp.
Purpose / Function
At first, this building was primarily retired seamstresses, tanners, and stonemasons who would use their previous skills to produce parchment or scrolls. In 1564 the Zordlon siblings introduced a revolutionary way to make these and the industry exploded within Neptis, making paper a highly sought after product for nobles and scholars.
Alterations
In 1564 there were alterations to start converting most of their production to plant fiber based papers, though there are still some requests that require the use of leather or traditional scroll fibers.
Architecture
The beginning room has several couches, each of varying design. Anyone with carpentry lore, or a similar lore, can make a DC 25 check to notice that the couches are made to accommodate different ancestries or come from different heritage designs. Beside each is a bookcase that features several types of bindings and on the spines shows titles according to the style in which they are bound. At the very end there is a clerks desk at which Echerion usually sits most days.
In the back, several sterling crafter's kits can be seen beside tables, as well as several steaming pots and the smell of cooked pulp fills the room. Smaller stations with leather-working kits and basket weaving kits can be seen as well. In the very back there are several pulp presses and stamping stations where the books are compiled and drawn on before they are bound in twine or sinew.
