Midgard

The realm of men, once at the center of the World Tree, now a scarred and broken reflection of what it once was.

Midgard was at the center of all the nine realms, and it is the home of Humans. This vast plane hosts every imaginable biome, and thus made it the perfect home to all manner of races and creatures. When Midgard was at the center of all the realms, the denizens of the other realms frequently passed through Midgard, and many even chose to stay. This commingling of the realms is what brought about the birth of many of the mixed races, such as the Half-Elves and the Orcs.

After the Great Cataclysm however, Midgard suffered terribly. After being cut off from the other realms, the gods could no longer help the people. The world was torn asunder by rising tides and shattering quakes, and something foul flowed in from the World Ocean that poisoned what land remained. Some ancient stories even speak of land falling from the sky, and crashing upon the shores. Untold thousands died during these times, but pockets of civilization somehow remained.

These remnants persisted and as the world was changed, they changed with it. Civilization began to rebuild, but as the centuries went on, those who could tell of what happened died out, and their tales became altered by time. Because of this, none truly know for sure what really happened in those days.

Geography

The lands of Midgard shrank considerably after The Great Cataclysm caused the seas to rise, but much still remains. Mountain ranges still tower over the plains, lush forests still cover the hills, and deserts still sprawl across parched earth. Rivers still flow, rain and snow still fall, and seasons still change.

Much, by the gods grace, remains unchanged in Midgard, but not everything. The Hinterlands, far to the west, are mysterious, untamed lands brimming with primordial magic and creatures far too strange and dangerous to be native to Midgard. The most puzzling thing is the fact that no clans have any stories that tell of the Hinterlands before The Great Cataclysm.
