Summary

  Zintamia as a culture mirrors that of feudal Japan and ancient china. buddhist religion was originally a major part of the general culture and life, however, very long string of rebellions, Dynasty changes and civil wars has led to the Modern Day Zintamia following a more extreme religion that focuses on Empowering and following Yang, with a counter-culture of empowering and following Yin. A steady Polarization occurred over the course of thousands of years with millions of casualties all mounted up together. Thousands of years of Mismanagement, bad leadership and failures to tend to cultural problems have led to Radical sides of the Zintamian culture emerging and taking control.   The Zintamian culture has built itself over many years to be an honour-bound civilian and military life, the code of the bushido and their honour code is a heavy influence, leading to the current use of samurai and Ashigaru style military. However, it also has many Monks, priests and even more foreign types of the military such as the Guardians. However, the Ashigaru and the Samurai remain Zintamia's main and most celebrated militaries.   Those who still worship a religion or deity likely follow one of the numerous Asian religions, ranging from Buddhism and Taoism as well as Shinto as well as small amounts of Celestial worship, the worship of light sprouting from Yang Extremists of Taoism.   Zintamian Culture also has a large set of foods and many traditions that have to do with Food. Various phrases and ritualistic actions are carried out before and after meals. Another Large part of the Culture is art and festivals. The country facing various dire threats and many troubles over the thousands of years of its existence. Art is celebrated and is almost a religion in itself with Artists worshipping great artists who arrange amazing, and complex pieces in the name of their gods, nation and peoples.   Ethnically Zintamia is also incredibly diverse having been founded originally by the now extinct Hippo's is now filled with Equines of all stripes, Hippogryphs, Dragons and Griffins. Zintamia is very effective at taking the best parts of a culture and integrating it into its own while not compromising its traditional principles most of the time. However in recent years due to radical shifts and civil upheaval, this is somewhat less true in the modern day.  

Clans

Zintamia has various clans across it's nations that have changed homes over the years depending on the dominance of said clan but the single two most important locations to hold is the Zintamian Grand Wall and New Osaka. Should any clan own one of these or both of them, they hold incredible sway and power over the Nation. The Wall often being the entrance and exit to Zintamia outside of a expensive ticket onto a Airship or a cheaper but more dangerous ticket onto a Seaborne ship.
  • Clan Raakibooshi

  Theme: Capital: Formerly Karbushi City (Ashina Castle/City is acting Capital in Equestria)   Wealth: Moderately Wealth   Military: Sparse but Strong   Religion: Celestial Church (Zintamian Sect, Progressive), Taoism, Shinto, Buddism   Key Attributes: Honourable, Stubborn, Tolerant, Stalwart, Militaristic, Traditional (Alicornian Era)   Rulers: General Teo Raakibooshi (Semi Shogun), General Kocoda Raakibooshi (In-country Leader), Princess Cherī Raakibooshi (Cherry Blossom)   Ideology: Constitutional Monarchy   Clan Raakibooshi is perhaps the most major clan outside of Clan Laoku or Suukaaku. The Clan is the last of Zintamian Clans that still honour the idea of Bushido even if their Bushido would be considered total heresy by the ancient Sengoki Clan. It has a very wide variety of races within its top branches including the vaunted Samurai of the clan who is said to be the best if not the fewest in number compared to all the other clans.   They are also the last Clan in Zintamia to pay heed to the original ruling family of Zintamia and swear fealty to the long-lost Divine heir, The Princess of Raakibooshi. The lady in Pink. In the days before the Dark War, within the Era of Grey. Clan Raakibooshi was dethroned from their noble seat by their former allies, Clan Suukaaku who were more progressive than Raakibooshi. However in their haste to progress the country they have forgotten Honour, Bushido, how society works and is structured but most vile, forgotten the very people they care for.   As the country lost its identity a powerful mega-corporation by the name of Yorta Incorporated has made its home in Zintamia as it has in various other countries and within the many wars against the Griffin Kingdoms, the coast nations, Equestria and Konja. Yorta has seized power within the nation. Clan Raakibooshi stands as the final hope and final remnant of the country's past and identity. The Clan is formerly recognised as Insurgents, Rebels and Renegades. Most of their ranks were filled with moderately to poorly armed partisans and whatnot seeking to end the brutal oppression of the nation and put a stop to the inhumane Auralight factories that power the massive industry of the nation. Their forces are spread wide and have bases outside of just Zintamia but across the local nations as well working with other organisations such as Underground to begin a Revolution that would hopefully and positively change the future, forever.  

  • Clan Suukaaku

  Theme: Capital: New Osaka   Wealth: Extremely Wealthy   Military: Vast, tightly packed into the country   Religion: Largely Atheist   Key Attributes: Deceptive, Greedy, Imperialistic, Hyper Conservative-Formerly Hyper Progressive, Totalitarian, Hostile   Rulers: Emperor Mioto Suukaaku   Ideology: Proto-Totalist   Clan Suukaaku is another extremely prominent house within Zintamia, one that has lost its identity and lost its sovereignty to Yorta Incorporated. In the Era of Grey, The Clan Head, Mioto Suukaaku that has used artificial means to extend his life with Blood Magic is the Maddened warmongering and greedy Dictator of Zintamia. The Clan is very carefully managed by Yorta Incorporated. The Clan has been in control for a Long time and it has become an extremely strong military force. Despite the small size of the nation. There is extreme population density and Yorta sells equipment, weapons and otherwise, that is produced in other nations.   Clan Suukaaku is able to field armies at an estimated max of 100-600 million soldiers though it is often unnecessary to deploy all of one army into a small space and are often spread out across various locations. Most of its forces are deployed at the Walls, Major cities and ports. Despite the overwhelming decadence of the Clan's elite, the military Leaders, and the Shogun of the clan remain committed to Zintamia's imperial Ambitions. Often to continue buying resources from Yorta, the clan often pillages and raids coastal settlements and their Air fleets often attack convoys for loot or money to buy yet more equipment.   Despite the clan's massive size, almost all of its Imperialistic pushes have been rebuffed thanks to the combined Military might of the Griffin Kingdoms or the Combined armies of Equestria. Due to the sheer amount of defences in the country, thanks to the Suukaaku Shogunate, Most of the Empires of the world do their best to contain Zintamia often fearing what a Zintamian Superpower would result in due to the horror stories and the atrocities that occurred in every single imperialistic push into neighbouring nations and the staggering amount of Civilian casualties.  

  • Clan Laoku

  Theme: Capital: Yokomara   Wealth: Excessively Wealthy   Military: Large but spread thin   Religion: Yin (Religion of Death)   Key Attributes: Cunning, Deceptive, Money Savvy, Elitist, Ruthless, War Mongering, Imperialist   Rulers: High Elder Riata Laoku   Ideology: Theocracy   If Raakibooshi is the Rebels and revolutionaries then Laoku is the brutal oppressors and terrifyingly inhumane Assassins of the Nation. Laoku has existed since the time of Alicornia though it's stature has risen from simple mercenaries, thieves and thugs have turned into the world's greatest assassins. Their Shinobi are capable of infiltrating many societies, some of its most skilled shinobi having been said to even infiltrate Changeling hives whose very existence in this world is guile and subterfuge. Despite the other clans having their own Shinobi, none are quite to quality of Laoku and many of Raakibooshi's finest assassins were either mentored by the clan, stole the clan's teachings or left the clan to fight for Freedom and honour.   Despite Laoku's deep association with Clan Suukaaku, many nations and many highly elite and important figures still often find themselves calling upon the services of the clan. Even though the Clan's Assassins and spy have a high price tag, it is often proven that every penny is worth it. Each member was raised from childhood to be a killing machine, master of deception and guile and excellent user of Psy-op tactics.   Should a Cavellian King tire of a Republican or otherwise insurrection he merely needs to pay Laoku and an assassin will come to 'solve the problem'. Yorta very often hires them to do their dirty work or do something underhanded. Laoku also does have its own military but nowhere near comparable to the monolithic legions that Suukaaku raises in its wild imperialistic dreams and campaigns.

  Theme:   Capital: Zinmura   Wealth: More Wealthy than all of Zintamia combined   Military: Vast and evenly spread across the world   Religion: Atheist   Key Attributes: Ruthless, Cunning, Honourable to a fault, Business Savvy, Hardcore Capitalists, Anti Democratic   Rulers: High Director Shiba Yukuta   Ideology: Proto- Corporate Totalists   The true masters of Zintamia, Yorta Incorporated has spread across the entire world, with its vast armies. Cutting Edge Magi-Tech and large use of Aura Extractors in long expanding Dust Fields. This Company alone is responsible for the advent of Firearms, and the Modernization of Arcane Golems into Metallic War machines. The Inventors of Aura light. Despite their overwhelming contributions to Science and Progress, Yorta is not interested in the Well being of the common individual. While Technological marvels, their technology is fuelled by the thousands of unfortunate and washed innocent souls fed into the Aura Engines every single day in the power plants. Mostly done in secret, in countries with less than compassionate governments.     Yorta is often the Target of Rebellious groups, namely Eco Terrorists who notice a severe degradation of the environments that Yorta inhabits. This is often due to Yorta siphoning off existing life for extra power when People are not enough for power consumption. Yorta also has its hand in the production of essentially all officially manufactured firearms and weapons. It is owning multiple Monopolies in various different companies that are named differently from Yorta. Meaning the direct beneficiaries of any War, no matter where it is almost universally without fail to the benefit of Yorta. Even countries that ban Yorta, still need to buy weapons and supplies meaning that even countries like Lexer are forced to give money to Yorta.     It is Yorta's goal to one day rule the world through Money and Influence, to wipe out Equalism and Republicanism before they have a chance to break the stranglehold that Yorta has over the world, even if they must make unsavoury allies to do so. As for when scandals inevitably show up, Yorta Inc runs the majority of the Radio News and Newspapers with large institutional influence enabling them to avoid consequences most of the time.     Yorta Free Countries are normally discredited in the eyes of Non- Yorta Free countries so the input of Free News is often ignored or dismissed as a conspiracy theory. Yorta also makes heavy use of Slaves and minimal-income workers on near-slave conditions. often preferring to hire minorities, not because of any progressive mandate to diversity but rather on average minority individuals would have no work without Yorta and their families would starve, enabling a cycle of abuse and extortion to Societies most vulnerable. They are the purest, hardcore personification of Ruthless Capitalism, Profit margins over literally every other consideration is their Ethos. If it can make money, it's guaranteed that Yorta will be doing it. At the very least, without them, the World in reality would still be stuck in Medieval-like conditions and technology.  

Demographics:

Demographics is a tricky question in Zintamia, with a huge undocumented slave population it is impossible to get accurate figures for all the races in Zintamia. While the nation is extremely diverse. Only Equines and Hippos truly have any stake to leadership or wealth within the nation. Everyone else being a disenfranchised often abused minority who is more often then not a slave and if not eventually will be one. Zintamia has one of the highest birth rates in the world with most of it's population being Pre-adolescent-Adolescent or young adults with a minority middle-aged and elderly demographic.   Rather then instate a one child policy, Clan Suukaaku recruits children who cannot live within the household into the military. Causing a constant supply of fresh manpower for the Clan to train up and put onto the field. This enables Zintamia's Superpower like the military despite its small size, it's an alliance with Yorta is also what allows the nation to support this kind of demographics.   The Breakdown of Races is:

  The rough population Zintamia is 1,118,074 - 1,578,876 people, this is the most extreme estimate, with the most conservative estimates being somewhere in the high millions. In short, if the Containment of Zintamia were to ever fail for whatever reason. Zintamia would become the single most powerful nation in the world with an undisputable military power.   Despite Konja's warnings, Zintamia is still often underestimated due to the long history of defeats but should this cycle keep going, one-day Zintamia will rise.  

Language:

  Language can be broadly recognised as Japanese, though are various differences in the language. While on paper it appears to be the same Kanji and words as before, the pronunciation has drifted some. Sounding a lot more like English pronunciation of Japanese words but not a distinctively English accent either. The language almost sounds normal when speaking with Clan Raakibooshi but with the other clans it has clearly changed quite a bit, so much so there are two types of Zintamia's language.   Traditional Zintamian - Mostly Normal Japanese Pronunciations, sentence structure varies but is recognisable.   Yorta Zintamian - Westernized language, simplified for foreigners and easier to teach to children. Speakers of Japanese will struggle to understand them.  

Economy:

  As explained quite a bit, Zintamia is very wealthy so in this section we'll talk about how that wealth is acquired in more explicit detail and what currency Zintamia is using.  

  • Currency

Zintamia uses two currencies, one currency is for trading while the other is for internal affairs.  
  • Bits
  • Bits is the trading Currency, when dealing with international organizations or traders; Yorta likes to use Bits as a sort of international currency. As a result Bits are the currency of the rich within Zintamia. The Bit is far stronger then the Kyo meaning the value of the Bit is much higher then Kyo allowing the elites of Zintamia to afford far more then anyone else in the nation.The Bit also comes with a bit of Diplomatic neutrality, making foreign business far more accepting of Zintamian business then they would be if they used their own national currency that is a bit infamous already.
  • Kyo
  • The Kyo is the National currency of Zintamia, this is used by the citizenry and below to buy and trade resources, this currency is considerably weaker then the Bit but is just strong enough to make life in Zintamia possible. The military for instance still insists on paying their soldiers with Kyo instead of bits out of national pride, a sort of way to quell nationalism in the nation so as to preserve it's Hyper capitalist economics that depends on international trade.It's also an mechanism to keep the general populace below the rich, as they can quite literally never have more money thanks to the currency system and market manipulation that is completely legal within the country.Economics Zintamia as explained possesses Yorta Incorporated, thanks to this Zintamia enjoys prosperity and money from multiple nations both willing and unwilling. Allowing the existing clans to become far richer than Zintamia ever would be before Yorta Inc. Zintamia is home to some of the most advanced Magi-tech factories in the world, with the largest Auralight reactors. While The reactors are cruel, inhumane structures that create power off misery and death. It has a significant economic advantage making the general tech level far higher then any other nation.Some key industries are for instance weapons manufacturing, specifically firearms, using old-world schematics and Post Necrosis products. Famously producing the Winchester Schematics made by John Moses Browning, meaning that Zintamia is a direct beneficiary of Yorta's weapons dealing across the world. This also means that in terms of firearms, Zintamia is only rivalled by Equestria and the Griffin Kingdoms. They also produce Golems, Industrial Golems that are coated with Metal using advanced Auralight batteries and runes that are far more powerful than any other Golem, making use of Chain guns, Aura cannons, Aura blasted. Shield units, Proto teleport units and much more. Ship Production is also fairly high but is unable to match the sheer output of Equestria's shipyards from sheer volume. Despite such heavy destitution with the general populace, the prosperity and wealth of other nations and their citizens with Yorta's businesses carry the Zintamian economy, whereas, for most nations, such high degrees of poverty and destitution would be a drag. For Zintamia it is barely a footnote and utterly below consideration.

Stability:

  Thanks to the Political and Economic situation, Zintamia is home to a wide selection of Rebellions. The primary Rebellion being Clan Raakibooshi, Raakibooshi benefits from the Poverty, disenfranchisement and lack of economic prosperity. Despite the favourable conditions for Rebellion. Zintamia has remained solidly under the Suukaaku Regime purely thanks to it's highly concentrated military power and overwhelming economic force that suppressed the Rebellions.   It would not be until the Zintamia Incident in Canterlot's grand Galloping Gala during the Twilight years of the Era of Grey. Did Raakibooshi become powerful enough to challenge Suukaaku, Laoku and Yorta with the help of it's allies? Upon seizing the wall, riots and insurrection became far more common in Zintamia resulting in a long war that'd last for years.   Draining the nations of their resources and wealth to fight each other.  

Military:

  The Military of Zintamia is an interesting topic as it has a fairly uniform structure across the clans with different specifications and slightly different gear but the overall unit types have not changed too much. All have adopted technology into their warfare, all have accepted new tactics into their arsenal and all are not afraid to try new things to get an edge. This will cover the common troops across all clans and then some unique ones that only the clans possess.  

  • Common Unit types

  Ashigaru: A common soldier type, these are everyday people who have either been recruited or conscripted into the army. They have an extremely wide array of weaponry and are used for all kinds of purposes from holding fortifications, Calvary, Artillery crews, Zepplin crews, Frontliners, flankers, gunners, Logistics; everything. They are the backbone of any Zintamian army and are commonly led by Upper Ashigaru or Samurai. Samurai:   Warriors sworn to the clan and to their Lord or Lady, they are normally Equines if they are not Raakibooshi then it could be any race. Gender is not exactly an issue when it comes to becoming Samurai but it is expected of Lady Samurai to have a family, and that the husband is also a Samurai and that their child would go on to be a samurai. This ensures that the loss of Women on the battlefield does not prove a hindrance to producing a new generation of Samurai.   They are trained all their lives to become warriors, but in peacetime, they are allowed to take up whatever profession they please so long as they are ready to serve their Lord or Lady at the drop of the hat. Even Samurai from Suukaaku or Laoku still somewhat respect Zintamia's Bushido, while they may not commit Seppuku upon failure, they are honour stricken to not raise a blade against citizens unless specifically allowed or ordered to by the lord or Lady or if unavailable they Commander in wartime circumstances.   Raakibooshi Samurai despite being from a Traditional and honourable clan is known for some of the greatest versatility with weapons and tactics. Able to incorporate new styles and weapons into their fighting style better than any other clan.   Shinobi   Hyper trained, super secretive warriors that can either be freelancers, company hired or serving a clan or noble. This highly diverse group of fighters are often ex-samurai who have left Bushido beyond, adopting their own codes and Ethos. Shinobi could either be very honourable or as slippery as can be and as cruel as a Yokai. They possess a highly diverse set of weapons and work with a cadre of spells and magic. Meaning you never know what you are going to get, when you fight a Shinobi.   Geisha:   Not inherently a combative role, some Geisha has become a lot like Shinobi except they use their status as a Geisha and their skills in a unique way. Instead of just being performers and escorts or more scandalously, Prostitutes. They can be hyper-lethal Assassins possessing unique access into elite circles and eliminate targets that even the most professional Shinobi would struggle with.   What distinguishes them most from Shinobi however is that they are very rarely ever Freelancers, almost always serving some kind of faction or cause. They are also not always Assassins so calling all Geisha Shinobi is incredibly insulting to all of the other Geisha who do not engage in such acts.   Yokai:   Aside from Raakibooshi, every clan employs some form of Yokai. A demon that is bound to the household or noble in question. Kept in service through highly complicated pacts and deals that empower the clans. In an older more forgotten age, this would be considered heresy but these days such words are meaningless as the power and numbers Yokai provide often outweigh the potential risks. As such, Guardians are often seen infamously in Zintamia as Guardians instinctually slay Yokai on sight.   Industrial Golems:   Metal Clad, Magi tech machines. A mishmash of complex and interlinked spells that create magical machines of war, each golem has its own strengths and each is named differently to help distinguish each type of Golem.   Walker Golems - Small bipedal Golems that have two chain guns or Auralight cannons on either side with a shielded Auralight battery on the back, often used for recon and Hit-and-run attacks.   Vanguard Golems - Large Bipedal Golems that have two large arms, are used to demolish walls and break formations, can have a huge Auralight cannon on the back and often has an Auralight battery inside of their chest.   Gunner Golems - Large Bipedal Golems that have two chain guns on their arms, and two shoulder-mounted Auralight cannons and large legs that emit electric shockwaves.   Shield Golems - Little Golems that walk on 8 legs and produce large shields to protect important assets with magic dynamically   Spider Golems - Small spider-like golems with an Auralight cannon in its mouths and sharp leg-mounted blades, used to destroy fortifications, mount surfaces and tear apart soldiers.   Airships:   Every clan has some kind of fleet, often possessing corvettes, battleships, destroyers and Carrier ships. Zintamia is no stranger to Air combat and uniquely possesses Auralight cannons on all of their ships, enabling volleys of Aura blasts against enemy ships. A feature that hasn't been added to most ships from other nations. Giving Zintamia a unique advantage. However due to the size of the cannon, these cannons are power hogs and produce hyper-destructive explosions when destroyed meaning that a simple boarding mission or infiltration could mean the deaths of whole sections of the fleet at once. Security and caution are paramount concerns for Admirals.

The Colonies is fully committed to the idea of Regime Change within Zintamia, seeing the Suukaaku Clan, the Laoku Clan and Yorta Incorporated as Tyrants who need be destroyed. Preferring Clan Raakibooshi as the rulers of the land. Zintamia despises the Colonies for fanatical support of Clan Raakibooshi.

Destined Enemies

Both have imperial interests against each other and both have gone to war in the past, fighting huge conflicts and pillaging each other's nations. Despite common ground in culture, you will not find a more hateful pair of nations.
