The Kingdom of Cavalia (Ca-valia)
Theme:
General Blastridge is the head of military affairs, tasked with the difficult task of managing a numerically inferior army compared to most of its neighbours and simultaneously fighting one of the worst civil Wars in Cavalia's history. Blastridge is credited with multiple successes including outfoxing better-staffed, better-supplied armies with superior firepower time and time again. Once a more compassionate and lawful commander. Blastridge has had to violate multiple rights and commit countless atrocities to keep Cavalia afloat. Most recently he had to put a stop to the Milda offensive when Zaldian soldiers committed a surprise offensive in 4490 after the Gala incident. Having successfully defeated the invasion he was then tasked with fighting the Cavalian Railroad in Cambridge and Argo city when a string of Anti Slavery activities monopolised the distracted military.
Miss Blume is the head of Progress which handles infrastructure and construction. She's the one behind keeping Cavalia city and other cities beautiful, well developed and the one ensuring that resources are delivered in a timely manner. Mayrina has made several deals with Yorta to get cutting-edge infrastructure developed. In the process, much of rural Cavalia has suffered desertification during her tenure. Many rivers, lakes and Dams were polluted to build new factories, dams, railways, Shipwrights and much more to keep Cavalia competitive and alive. Most recently she has commissioned logging and mining operations in the Black Wood, costing many lives but gaining Cavalia valuable resources and wealth central to its success and survival.
Yorta Hound - A Demonic Hound under the influence of Yorta's brainwashing, a powerful formation breaker and excellent at tracking down prey Royal Guardsmen - Top tier infantry unit, possesses lots of magical equipment and is way more powerful than a legionary Mage - Equipped with various spells, tomes, staffs, aura blasters and the like, the mage is the main contributor to Cavalia's magical prowess, often trained in Canterlot Guardian - Often sent by Northern Equestria, occasionally a guardian may accept being sent to Cavallia and fight for the nation, normally dealing with the Black Wood. Industrial Golems: Metal Clad, Magi tech machines. A mish-mash of complex and interlinked spells that create magical machines of war, each golem has its own strengths and each is named differently to help distinguish each type of Golem.
Walker Golems - Small bipedal Golems that have two chain guns or Auralight cannons on either side with a shielded Auralight battery on the back, often used for recon and Hit-and-run attacks.
Vanguard Golems - Large Bipedal Golems that have two large arms are used to demolish walls and break formations, can have a huge Auralight cannon on the back and often has an Auralight battery inside of it's chest.
Gunner Golems - Large Bipedal Golems that have two chain guns on their arms, two shoulder-mounted Auralight cannons and large legs that emit electric shockwaves.
Shield Golems - Little Golems that walk on 8 legs and produce large shields to protect important assets with magic dynamically
Spider Golems - Small spider-like golems with an Auralight cannon in their mouths and sharp leg-mounted blades, used to destroy fortifications, mount surfaces and tear apart soldiers.
Naval: Man-o-War - A massive flying Skyship coated with metal, extremely slow and resource-hungry but highly effective against small arms bands of resistance, ill-fit for International naval combat at this time. Outfitted with dozens of guns, it carries the main flame thrower used to scorch the land and burn cities. Cavalian Frigate - A lighter-armed ship that is more mobile, the Cavalian version is clad in metal plates making it slower than a normal frigate but less vulnerable to guerillas. Enabling the army to deploy more safely in dead asymmetrical battlefields. Cavalian Corvette - A Ironclad corvette, meant to escort and back up other ships in the event of Naval warfare, this is in response to the Rise of Air Piracy in their skies under the command of Captain Celaeno, the infamous pirate of Cavalia.
Origins:
A former region of Alicornia, the nation seceded from Alicornia during the chaos reign and is one of the first countries. Enduring decades of endless attacks from Chaos, with the help of Zaldia Cavalia was able to survive. During Equestria's founding, the devastation left behind by the decades of struggle caused Cavalia like Zaldia trade its autonomy in order to survive and avoid the need for war and conquest. For a time, Cavalia thrived with a vibrant culture, bright-minded people and a successful economy. That was until the Shadow wars when the forces of Sombra ravaged the lands seemingly cursing parts of the Cavalian wood with demonic corruption. It became known as the Black Woods, the civil war disrupted its economy and harmonious culture thrusting the once peaceful nation into a series of civil wars that would go on long after Equestria had defeated Nightmare moon. The Country is now a mere shadow of itself, The Royal family lives in total ignorance of the growing shadow over their country while the Council of Crowns abuses their power and gets drunk off power and money. Yorta extracts the lifeblood of the land, turning once green and lush forests into dry wastelands, slowly creeping to the capital with Equestria struggling to maintain its old, Lexer arms, funds and excites the rebellion within hoping to displace the Imperial rule, install democracy and gain an advantage over their Northern Sister nation, Equestria. Times are dark, but it is only dusk. The light has not fully gone out, a greater shadow awaits them on the horizon. Can they survive the night and see dawn once more?Government:
The government is an absolute monarchy, however, it has been a very, very long time since the monarchy has given any decrees or even publicly shown themselves outside of the capital. Stuck in a small bubble, most of the administration is done by the Council of Crowns. A small group of Oligarchs that are self-appointed via membership in the guilds. Uniquely Yorta does not have a huge role in this mostly because they don't have to. The Government is rife with corruption thus making it easy for them to get what they want from the Kingdom of Cavalia. The Current King and Queen as of 4445 AD are King Harold Shrine and Queen Marietta Shrine. They have multiple sons and daughters but the next in line is Jacobin Shrine, an impulsive and rude child who thinks he should rule the world. The Council hopes he takes the throne while young in order to grow their influence over the government and deal away with pesky executive intervention when it rarely arises. The council as of 4487 is staffed by these Nobles:Robb Shadowrite
Position: Master of Wealth Robb is a middle-aged man, his race Equine and is a ruthless businessman. He is the owner of Shadowrite Incorporated and is a close ally of Yorta. He is used as proof that somehow his existence is proof that Yorta is not a ruthless, inhumane mega monopoly. He is the one meant to manage the country's finances of the nation and does a fantastic job at budget surplus'. He is responsible for the country's high GDP but also the crippling wage cap that is strangling what is left of the nation's middle class. Though completely heartless and ruthless, he is one of the biggest reasons that Cavalia has not capitulated and integrated into Northern Equestria. Keeping the nation competitive as well as getting it the funds it needs to supply the military, for now, maintain supremacy in the latest civil war against Republican Cavalians.General Finnegan Blastridge
Position: Master of WarGeneral Blastridge is the head of military affairs, tasked with the difficult task of managing a numerically inferior army compared to most of its neighbours and simultaneously fighting one of the worst civil Wars in Cavalia's history.
Lady Mayrina Blume
Position: Master of ProgressMiss Blume is the head of Progress which handles infrastructure and construction.
Professor Gordon Frenchwill
Position: Master of Enlightenment The Professor is head of scientific advancement and education. Cavalia doesn't have much capability to produce technology of its own however it can contribute to foreign research and receive technology in return. Education is mainly reserved for the higher classes, when it comes to magical education Cavalia sends its students to Canterlot and pays for their education. This is mostly due to improper in-country resources, Cavalia does have Dust fields filled with Aura crystals but lack many vital ingredients for things like alchemy. It's also a very dangerous country meaning students would have to train exclusively in Cavalia city which won't do. The Professor ensures that Cavalia maintains a level of magical talent, while inferior to most of its neighbours. Ensures that the Kingdom always has some kind of safeguard against the Blackwood located near Trinity city.Economy:
Cavalia is a small country, its main exports are minerals Aura Crystals and Dust refineries. It also exports Auralight power, however, unlike Zintamia, Cavalia lacks the 'disposable' population to fuel the reactors. So Yorta sacrificed local flora and Fauna. This is causing desertification and desolating the habitability of the land around them. Yorta is readying to import a large slave population to feed the reactors and prevent further desolation in order to preserve the new Plantation Program to produce crops and wine from vineyards. It is difficult to get a normal job in the nation, the middle class has almost completely evaporated. The jobs that remain are either government own businesses or Yorta Incorporated. This has caused a sustained pattern of desperate poverty for thousands of people. The high birth rate also doesn't help and the importation of slaves is only further driving down the common person. This is not a favourable position, the council of crowns would prefer to put money back into people's pockets but budget restraints and the civil war forces them to do the opposite and sap wealth from the people rather than trying to compromise with the Gunslinger Rebellion. North Equestria massively benefits from the nation's impoverishment, it creates a large pool of expendable workers and often many low opportunities, low income workers end up also working in Cavalian factories. Celestia however hates this and directly donates 170-280 million bits to Cavalia to try and help the people, which has succeeded in preserving fragments of the middle class however it is not enough to rebuild it, but with Equestria's current budget, any more bit in the donation is impossible at this time. Celestia however does secretly support the Lexer-backed Gunslingers believing that while it costs the north power, the people would greatly benefit from Lexan control. The City of Philidelos is the main city currently funding the railroad in Cavalia, with multiple independent businesses interested in setting up in and developing Cavalia into a strong nation once more. Philidelos is also formally a northern city, so it is less likely to condone violence against northern Equestrians. The evidence for this lies within Shadypoint, the free city of Cavalia. Shadypoint has blossomed into a city over the decades with multiple thriving businesses and making progress in restoring the local flora and Fauna of the nation around them. Shadypoint's entire GDP dwarfs half of the country due to free market trading, extremely low corporate taxes but heavy incentives for development and quality products such as Tax hikes for improper performance.Currency
The Bit inside of Cavalia is fairly weak, the Royal Cavalian Bit or the RCB is worth 0.56 of 1 Equestrian Bit. However, the Free Cavalia Bit is worth 0.78 of 1 equestrian bit. Experts believe that if Cavalia is liberated, Cavalia will have equal playing field status with Philidelos in the south or Catalia city in the north. As for pre-existing currency, long ago the Argo was once the currency of Cavalia but after the Civil war, the RCB was adopted to try and salvage the rapidly sinking value of the Argos.
Imports
While Cavalia exports minerals and Aura crystals, it imports a lot of equipment and a lot of food from lower northern Equestria. One frequent occurrence is minerals being mined in Cavalia but refined and sold back to them by the North. This means that there is a deficit in jobs where there should be many. However, this importation of their own goods ensures the military always has equipment despite what the Rebellion tries to do to their supply line. So while on the surface the importation of their own goods is terrible, there is a strategic reason for producing their own equipment beyond their borders.
Culture
Cavalia was once a rich, vibrant nation with many holidays and a beautiful countryside aesthetic across most of their settlements on the account that Cavalia was once mostly mountainous forests. However since much of it has been corrupted or dried up, most of this survives exclusively near Cavalia city. The rest looks alike something out of a post-apocalypse novel. The culture is fragmented and is heavily influenced by the culture imported with slave labour and mass immigration. The architecture outside of the established cities is very scrappy, and large shanty towns have formed. Shadypoint is a mix of this and is clearly in transition from a Shanty city, to a proper city with clear Lexan influences in its design. People have a mixed relationship with race inside of Cavalia, some are working themselves to death to liberate who they see as fellow Cavalians while others are working as hard as possible to keep 'inferior savages' working where they 'belong'. This divide is no more clear than between Shadypoint and Cavalia city, Shadypoint is a free market environment where all people regardless of race or background can build a life for themselves and are granted basic welfare across the board. Where Cavalia city is a Palace Market environment, with a rigid society where only Equines can enjoy the benefits of their society. Where the Poor stay poor and the rich get richer. This is mostly out of poor understanding, most living in the privileged really don't understand or really know how bad it has gotten for countless thousand, most still think of Cavalia as a small country with a small population, failing to see just how much Cavalia has changed even over the last 100 years. The people living on the bottom also do not understand this and believe that it is all intentional exploitation. Both are technically right about each other, the Rebels are often very quick to judge and are very trigger-happy. If given the chance, most Rebels really will kill a lot of them however the Rebels are also right in thinking at they are a bunch of entitled snobs whose entire life and prosperity are built off the suffering of millions. Few understand and see how everything has sort of just gone wrong, none of it was intentional. Everyone shares a bit of the blame for what happened in Cavalia but at this point and time. Everyone only sees red, everyone only wants someone else to blame.Military:
The military of Cavalia is exclusively developed for Counter Demonic and Counter insurgency activity. The Cavalian Royal Army is not suited for international conflict and even when fighting other countries it is mostly based on defences. The idea that the Army could invade Zaldia is in fact a foolish one. Despite the constant warfare, there has been very little time for the Army to standardize their experience and renew their training practices. This has caused a brain drain in high commanders, While General Finnegan Blastridge is a brilliant military mind. He'd be even better and likely more successful if he had the last 4400 years of military action to work off from. Instead, most generals are almost blank slates who fine-tune their skills on the field rather than sitting in officer school reading about the achievements of generals prior. This brain drain has exhausted the Military and is slowly causing them to lose more ground to the Rebels, Under Dante Dewitt, the Rebels have steadily liberated more of the country and are getting more and more efficient at fighting the Royal army and Yorta PMCs.Cavalian Royal Army
The CRA is composed of two branches, The Legionary and Naval Brigade. Both play integral roles in Cavalia's protection. They are both moderately sized though are not comparable to the military force compared to Northern Equestria and Lexer. They're relatively well equipped if not a bit behind. Only by 4489 did both forces just update to the current technological capacity for warfare as everyone else. It is unlikely that the CRA will see any new equipment for the next 10 years as the military budget was stretched thin by modernization. As a result, the ANSO report indicated that the CRA will likely not survive a world war scenario past the first year and is thus discounted as a threat. The Legionary
If the name didn't make it obvious, the Legionaries are inspired and trained by Northern Legionaries. They're not too unique to Northern Equestria outside of the fact that their mobility is inferior due to the small numbers in their fleets. The Legionary prefer to hold highly defensible positions with organized fallback strategies, proper watch over supply lines and a secure flank. If not for the incredible intelligence and cunning of General Blastridge, the Legionary would have fallen to the Rebel a very, very long time ago.The Naval Brigade
The Naval Brigade is the biggest danger to the Rebels, their ships being very slow but extremely well-defended and packed with devastating firepower. Instead of mobility, Cavalia prefers expensive but devastating flying fortresses. This means they have few numbers but it is hard to sink their Skyships, its long-range enables dynamic artillery barrages that can cripple the Rebel's advance and their operations.
Unit Types:
Land Legionary - Typical land unit, can possess multiple weapons and has standard equipment. Not too many magical enchantments but also fairly handy with a gun.Yorta Hound - A Demonic Hound under the influence of Yorta's brainwashing, a powerful formation breaker and excellent at tracking down prey Royal Guardsmen - Top tier infantry unit, possesses lots of magical equipment and is way more powerful than a legionary Mage - Equipped with various spells, tomes, staffs, aura blasters and the like, the mage is the main contributor to Cavalia's magical prowess, often trained in Canterlot Guardian - Often sent by Northern Equestria, occasionally a guardian may accept being sent to Cavallia and fight for the nation, normally dealing with the Black Wood. Cavalian Corvette - A Ironclad corvette, meant to escort and back up other ships in the event of Naval warfare, this is in response to the Rise of Air Piracy in their skies under the command of Captain Celaeno, the infamous pirate of Cavalia.
The Rebellion:
The Rebellion is a loose confederation of broadly Republican forces, under the command of the Infamous/Famous Guardian Dante Dewitt and his gang the Gunslingers. The Gunslingers are one of the largest and most powerful gangs of abolitionists in the world. The Rebellion's capital is Shadypoint and the beginnings of what is being called "The Cavalian Republic" though only a Senate has been formed with other matters such as the Constitution, Presidency and otherwise still being debated during the ongoing civil war. It has international support from Lexer, Freedria and Alpacan as well as moral support from Princess Celestia, Crystal Empire and part of Northern Equestria.Groups in the Resistance
The Gunslingers
A rag-tag band of outlaws numbering in the hundreds who due to their namesake are quite proficient with firearms and have almost religious respect for their firearms. They often travel in packs on top of horses. Stealing, robbing and pillaging Royalist and Yorta supplies. The Gang has existed long before the Rebellion but this group is personally headed by the Founder Dante Dewitt from the Rogue Trio of guardians. These fighters come in many shapes and sizes with their look being heavily inspired by the Ranchers though some do wear armour and some are wielding Stirling Industries firearms. They also have decent magical talent and use it to free slaves and send them through the railroad.Celeano's Pirates
In recent years a new Pirate gang led by Captain Celeano has risen to power after the Storm King's defeat at the hands of Sunset Shimmer and her friends. The Gang is staffed by many of his former men as well as Liberated ex-slaves. The Fleet is well-sized and usually, outfoxes the Naval Brigade however tends to try and avoid open combat. This is because if the Pirates destroy too many ships, foreign Air forces will come to their aid and make Piracy much harder to do. These pirates are the Rebellion's only air force at the moment.Shadypoint Guardsmen
A standard force, unlike the other Rebel forces. The Guardsmen take a purely defensive role, as the Rebellion lacks the means to maintain a conventical war. These guardsmen are equipped a bit like their Royalist counterparts except for the fact they have some of the latest magi-tech aura blasters, Auralight power generation and field mainly Stirling Industries firearms, courtesy of Alpacan's Military.Flag of the Resistance
Demographics:
Cavalia has a very messy census and is basically completely useless. The Census suggest that 95% of Cavalia is Equine when that is obviously not true. it also doesn't count slaves. The ANSO Report estimates that the Population is roughly between 12 Million to 30 Million people that rapidly travel around. It is unknown what the age demographics are like but considering that the middle class barely exists, it hardly matters. Retirement is only a basic privilege that the rich get a right to, most work to death or can't work and die of starvation. Meaning that economic growth will never be influenced but it can influence recruitment rates. Thing is, due to the High Birth rates it's unlikely any institution anywhere is going to run out of fresh blood any time soon. ANSO believes that Cavalia would be conquered swiftly in a world war scenario to make use of their population since people is one of the most valuable things in a war.Religion:
Cavallia very often reveres Celestia, preferring the Solar Sect of the church, even the Rebels. There is also a minor presence of the Church of the Goddess and Al Shamar. The Celestial church was adopted soon after the establishment of Equestria and has included new religions since then. Despite the religious nature of the Nation, the Rebellion wishes to create a Secular state where the church has nothing to do with government and cannot just use national leaders for their own services. Religious discrimination is also very common amongst the loyalists believing anyone different from themselves to be ill-fit for Cavallia often telling them to go back where they come from, which is often very misinformed due to the fact many being slaves for multiple generations in their family.Technology:
Only recently did Cavallia modernize but it is on track to fall behind again with everyone else. Living Standards in big cities like Cavallia city is fairly high but there is a huge wealth gap meaning most people are living off scraps and jerry-rigged devices. There is no real developments in terms of warfare however Shadypoint with the help of Doctor Amy Roth is working to restore the local Fauna and Flora of their nation, wishing to reduce the desolation of their country.Themes:

The Distance keeps these two separate but the Royalists maintain donations to Cavalia to resist Republican insurrection against the Royalist forces within Cavalia but this is purely out of self-interest and not out of any sort of genuine union.
