The Blessed Way

Infrastructure

The Blessed Way lies between the inner and outer walls of the eastern area of Mystemere , and is split by the Sea Gate and the Mirror Bay.    The northern part of the district is called the Northern Blessing and houses the living quarters for the clergy. When the Sea Gate is closed, a bridge extends across the bay and allows travel to the Southern Blessing, where the temples and houses of worship are located. Otherwise travelers will have to circle the bay and cross into other districts to make it to the Southern Blessing.

Assets

The main temple in the Blessed Way is the House of the Great Protector, or as the locals call it, the Grand Temple. Inside is an amazing statue of the goddess Ashtyr . It is the largest known temple in the The Grand Duchy of Kadmos. It is also the tallest building in the city, only appearing smaller than Castle Mystemere, because it doesn't rest on a hill. The silver colored roof can be seen from the sea and is said to dazzle the eyes if stared at directly. The Grand Temple lies in the center of the Southern Blessing.   Other houses of worship include:
  • House of the Great Protector  - The Grand Temple to Ashtyr
  • The Anvil House - Chapel dedicated to Denyo and Alesh
  • The Chapel of Three - A small chapel dedicated to the worship of the three great gods: Ashtyr, Yeno and Kor.
  • The Dedication to Sailors - A memorial and place of prayer to Werik and Ravani
  • The Green House - Temple to Kor and Dal
  • The Fountain of Lucky Coins - Worship of Emid occurs here.
  • The Homiest Home - A chapel to Tillia
  • The House of Ashen Tears - Dedicated to Set and Nyk
  • The Pillars of the Animals - Dedicated to Osu and Zov
  • Talon's Heart - Small chapel dedicated to Red Talon
  • The Temple of Heavenly Starlight - Dedicated to Yeno

Tourism

Vistitors from around the Duchy and indeed from throughout Reluria will come to see the Grand Temple. It's beauty and impressive architecture are well known. It is considered a marvel of modern Theosian architecture, and the finest example of Theosian temple design in the whole continent (something that annoys the clergy in the actual Empire). The statue of Ashtyr makes a visit to the temple a necessity, with her hair crafted from rubies and her armor and weapons of silver and bronze. Few can stand before the monument and not feel in awe.   The Fountain of Lucky Coins is also very popular. It is located in a central square, is lovely in its simple but attractive design, and provides a calming refreshing place to relax or enjoy the bards and street entertainers that frequent the area. There is usually at least one Sakasta present pretending to be Emid and telling tall tales.

Architecture

Most of the houses of worship were build after the conquest by Duke Julian Kadmos I. As such they are very Theosian in design, with columns, triangular roofs and large statues of the god or goddess within.    Three were build by Dorians and still retain a simpler look. Theres are the Fountain of of Lucky Coins, the House of Ashen Tears and the Pillars of the Animals. The Dorians did have a temple to Ashtyr but it was destroyed during the insurrection and the Grand Temple replaced it.   Newer additions to the area are the Chapel of Three, the Homiest House, Talon's Heart and the Temple of Heavenly Starlight. Talon's Heart is the newest addition. It actually lies in the Northern Blessing, and is in an old house that used to belong to a priest of Ashtyr.   While the Grand Temple sees the most visitors, most locals spend time at Dedication to Sailors. Mystemere being a port city, many of the inhabitants have friends and family that work on or around the sea.
