The Spice Market

Industry & Trade

This is the main trading hub for the inhabitants of the Foreign Quarter. Delicacies and delights from their places of origin are brought to the city and sold to them here (the only place a dwarf can get proper dwarven ale!). It is also where these locals can sell their wares to visitors to the city. Theosian and Dorian folk seeking a touch of the exotic will come here to find it.

Infrastructure

Lies to the south of the Foreign Quarter and the inner wall, nestled within the North End of the city. The Spice Way, winds from the gate, through the Spice Market and down to the Merchant District proper.

Guilds and Factions

While there is no official trade guild in the city, there is an understanding between the merchants in the Merchant District and the Spice Market. They do their best to not pull from each other's specialities. If a merchant comes across something from overseas, they will trade it to a local in the Spice Market and vice versa. Some quarrels have broken out, but business is too good to let anything stand in the way of everyone making coin.   Crime is a problem in the area. Pickpockets are all over and there can even be muggings at night. The market technically closes at dusk, but restaurants and taverns remain open into the night, much to the annoyance of residents in the North End.

Tourism

This is one of the most popular places in Mystemere. Travelers who like to think of themselves as "in the know" will point it out as the best market in the city. Of course, everyone knows about it. Theosian and Dorian travelers come here to feel like they are tasting the exotic, and sailors who are far from home can come here to get a taste of home.   Some of the best snacks, and foods from all around Cadash can be found here. It is also known for its pottery, clothing and exceptional varieties of pipe weed. Sadly the curio shop, The Quiet Nook has been closed for a while now.

Architecture

Built among the North End, the buildings here are all wood, but have a much sturdier appearance than the ones in the Foreign Quarter. They are a bit more uniform, usually two stories tall and usually have some kind of portico or awning in front. Stores are decorated to look "exotic" and the main store or restaurant will lie on the first floor, with storage and offices above.    There are also a plethora of stalls and carts in the area selling snacks, toys and goodies of all kinds.
